His was one of the questions I singled out He gives them layup questions that take half the allotted presser time to respond to

Ferg put this out on Twitter. It’s Harsin talking about the importance of the mental side of playing in his offense

I like it

I am intrigued when I read stuff from him like this what we’re going to look like. I have positive feels right now and feeling vulnerable about that.

Edited for old guy moment

I’m still on the cautious side of things. Been burned too many times to get my hopes up before I see a quality opponent

PM had me laughing at him the other day, like one of those id10ts that forgets his mic is muted on zoom calls.

That is what I am talking about. And its always a question about having new coach's or the coaching change, all those changes, blah, blah, blah. You would think, damn I bet you could think of those questions and write them down in 10 seconds. I wonder if it takes him 10 hours.

In general, Coach Harsin is very detail oriented.

I think he will be successful.

Players won’t get on the field IF they do not know their job and the adjustments needed for various alignments.

It makes sense to me.

Thank you.

I kept looking at the gif that Rhymo posted and was like, what the hell is wrong with what I wrote. I even tried being a smart arse with my response until I read what I posted and quickly remembered Spring, A Day is in Spring.

Damn, I need to move to Florida to retire and wear black knee high socks with shorts and loafers.

Pretty long practice video. I like the WR vs DB 2v2 drill. Some good press coverage in there by the db’s.

Reading and hearing this you really get the sense that these players have never really been broken down and built back up the right way before now. Gus was coaching but he wasn’t teaching. Yeah he was teaching plays but he wasn’t teaching the “why”, which leads to the ability to adjust in-game. Harsin isn’t just teaching the how but the why which empowers players. I feel like with this approach, we’re always going to be able to make adjustments in-game rather than what Gus did which is just running the same 6 played in different sequences seeing if something “works”. It’s why we had no shot in some games because Gus didn’t have the teaching bases covered well enough to adjust.

I also get the sense that Harsin must be thinking “holy frick, did the previous staff teach these guys ANYTHING? The “football 101” statement was really telling. I really feel like these first two games are going to go a long way in developing a team that can read, think, and adjust on the fly by the time we get to happy Valley. I’m really eager to see what we look like, and how we game plan and adjust.

There was no game-planning with Gus, just running the same plays over and over. No “scheming” against a type of defense, or isolating a certain player or having a strategy to attack a certain scheme. Until now we have been woefully undercoached
