Where does Bow & Arrow stack up?

I haven’t been back since 2003. I am sure it would look completely different than what I remember as well.

2005ish seems to be the break between old Auburn and commercial Auburn.
I was in elementary school from 1999-2004 and it felt like every semester we had some new kids moving into town from Montgomery. Lived off of Moores Mill Road at the time and you could basically watch the cow pastures get replaced by neighborhoods and then the two shopping centers

Don’t go. It’ll make your stomach sick. I’ve been tailgating on the southwest side of campus in the RV and due to just taking care of things around the RV I hadn’t been to downtown in a long time. We drove through downtown looking for breakfast and was in total shock at all of the high rises. It looks more like Knoxville Tn than Auburn around 2005

There are some good and bad elements to it... there is some legitimately excellent food around Auburn these days. But it no longer looks like a "lovely village." Auburn will always retain some essence of its charm but it's getting harder to know where to look.

Yeah. Honestly, it is way better now to raise a family in Auburn.

I graduated in 1982, and my late father (API ‘52) said the place changed more in the four years I was there than in the 27 years from when he finished to when I started.
I can’t imagine what he would think now. I was last in Auburn in 2015 and barely recognized the place.

What was the name of the pizza joint that delivered 24-inch pizzas back then? Was it Chanellos?

Ever since it closed it’s been like 25 different restaurants. Right now it’s a steakhouse

Considering I ate a lot of bologna sammiches and boxed mac-and-cheese back then, greasy Chanellos was a damn treat.
I would also buy about $5 worth of Burger King's 5-for-a-$1 regular burger specials when they would have them and put them in the freezer and eat for days.
Did you ever head out Opelika way to Rusty's Oyster Bar?

I went back recently and thought the same thing. It was definitely different but still felt like Auburn to me. I’ve always been more partial to a bigger city feel though.

I LOVED Willies!I ordered one of those shitfaced late one night, missed the delivery and called and got their VM and apologized profusely, hoping they didn't blacklist me!
My arteries are still clogged with that cheese and ranch dressing!

Yep, which is fine IMO. Both of Bancroft’s places are excellent and his prices reflect that they’re better than the competition.
Honestly I was never a fan of Auburn’s bbq scene (until B&A). Pretty much everywhere was average to below average.

I moved from Auburn in 2016 (pre-B&A) and agreed on the BBQ. Average stuff all around. I'm originally from North Alabama and grew up on much better BBQ options..

$5.40 for a large pepperoni carry-out. Did it weekly on our way to the Texaco to get a keg for $50.50.
ETA- Auburn kinda makes me sad now. Losing the charm.
