This is a ridiculous thread....
This kid has the opportunity to not only change his life but most likely his family's life. Not many people will ever have that opportunity. Sit out if you want....
If I were the coach, I would most likely advise against playing for early round draft prospects. There is always a bigger picture. Worrying about one bowl game is very simple minded.
And these guys don't owe the school anything.... That is an awful notion. They aren't employees.

What is going to happen when 10 starters from each team want to sit out?
If two teams are playing in a non-playoff bowl game that have 20 players with top round talent, both coaches need fired.

No, its actually a valid discussion. It is not the college programs responsibility to get a player to the NFL or prepare them. It is a benefit of them getting the free scholarship.
I dont buy into the "Who owes" who discussion. I will leave that to others. My point remains. If you are a member of the team, You need to play. If you don't want to play because you think you are too important, which is exactly what your saying, then you should quit the team and work on your NFL recruitment.

Exactly how I feel. You work hard getting your team to a bowl just to bounce?
Where does the logic end?
Well I had a good year, better not risk it in the championship game.
Better not risk it in the iron bowl.
Blah blah blah

Sorry Tigerman but all games are important
In years past I'd agreed, but in our current culture...BCS now CFP's they have made the other bowls feel inadequate. I believe CD is sitting because the coaches have chosen to sit him.

So you are saying that nobody here will dog Gus for his bowl record if we lose since it’s a irreverent game?

I do not care what others think about anything.
I want Au to win any game in any sport at anytime.
So in "our current culture"; a 5-3 team should just fold and not risk injury since they are out of it.
I don't think so.

No. we need to pound these motherfrickers asses.
We need a win in MBS before facing Udub next fall. Lets get 2018 off to a good start with some mojo.
if you gonna wear the uniform you do it to win.

It starts and ends with capitalism. If the market decides that these games are important, players have to play. If the market (NFL/Draft) decides the games don’t matter, it’s a unneeded risk that private owner (player) takes on without any benefit (potentially).
Sure I hope all these guys come back and play every game, because I love AU and want to win every game. However, I won’t fault them or the coaches for a second if they choose to cash in a winning lotto ticket.

They are free to give a portion or allof their scholarship back if they don’t want to play.
AU didn’t give Davis a full ride for his academics.

You are forgetting that an athletic scholarship is a contract and the player would be in breach of for deciding not to play.

So lets make a list of who should not play tomorrow because they cant get hurt or it will hurt their NFL career and they wont be able to afford a new house .
Jeff Holland
Carlton Davis
Kerryon Johnson
Daniel Carlson
Who else should sit out?
Bow, Im not targeting you brother. I am trying to understand how this is a good thing

It’s not a good thing for anybody... when you start to accept playing less football as ‘the right thing to do’, you’re headed down a very dangerous slope... one that has the potential to greatly change the game we all love.
