Can we talk about Freeze’s weak answer about the Georgia rivalry?

He wants us to compete for the love of our people not out of hate for other people.

Barf.

1. Besides a few psychos of every fanbase you don’t really truly hate the other side. It’s a healthy hate.

2. The hatred is what makes sports fun.

3. Hatred helps most people perform at their peak levels. Jordan would find reasons to hate the guy he’s playing against. Brady did the same thing. Most highly motivated people create chips on their shoulders to drive them forward.

Kumbaya bullshite does not work in football.

He's an outspoken evangelical, born-again Christian. What do you expect? This is who he is. I'm good with it but the team needs to play with fire and intensity. The offense has looked soft and even he said they needed more swag. All of that can be true at the same time.

I mean, it is an accurate statement.

If you need to hate someone in order to compete, you don't really have that fight in you. Sure it is a great motivator, but your drive to compete should be more internally driven, not externally.

Despite misconceptions, that doesn’t mean you have to be Mr. nice guy all the time.

Again this is a sports rivalry. Not true hate. It’s like saying you have a moral dilemma with lying in a board game to win.

I hope he’s being nice guy to the media then drumming it up in the locker room but starting to worry me a little bit.

MJ and Brady just didn’t have it in them.

This is internal. You build this shite up in your head to drive yourself past where you can normally go.

You think MJ and Brady's main motivation was hatred of others?

You didnt include the "Auburn fans dont hate them as much as Bama
part and that pisses me off. We used to own georgia.

I think Freeze should drink a warm glass of shut the frick up.

I don't think Saban ever hated Tennessee, LSU or Auburn. I think he understood some of the fanbase hate, but that was about it. He probably thought many of those people were crazy. He just did his job, developed game plans and recruited talent that allowed him to regularly beat those teams. Freeze's answer seems fine to me.

Hatred is basically the wrong word in this context. They were ruthless, cussing our teammates, shite talking opponents because they were driven to be the best. He only brought up the hatred word as it pertains to the fans not hating Georgia and fans hating is irrelevant to yalls conversation. The "compete in love" or whatever is just a bunch of Fraud Hew baloney.

Don’t put words in my mouth.

Both of them definitely used it as a major source of motivation. They both talk about it all the time. Doesn’t matter who they lined up against, they built up hate in their minds for whoever.

If you don’t have a chip on your shoulder about something, you aren’t truly motivated.

Somehow you made my point for me while countering my point because you missed my point.

Saban does not hate any of those teams. Saban definitely used hate for those weeks.

It's what you replied to. Make your argument better. You think they needed hatred of their opponent in order to compete?

Cool. This still wasn't their bases for competing. You think they competed more for the hatred of their opponent more than for their drive to help their team? That is the point Hugh is getting at. Worded it pretty gooberishly, but the point he is getting at is his team nor the fans should need any other reason to come out and compete other than their pride in themselves and the team they represent. Fairly silly thing people to be getting bent out of shape over.

If you need a chip on your shoulder to be motivated enough to compete, you aren't truly motivated.

Mark Richt is too, and he brought that FSU thug shite to Athens. I still say he is to blame for the start of a friendly rivalry turning into a shite-spewing hate fest.

The rivalry took a hated turn. It used to be brother vs brother, you loved them but wanted to kick their arse. Pat Dye, Vince Dooley. Old school respect.
