This absolutely was the problem. Would that have ever been done right keeping Gus? Nope
Sometimes things need to be broken to find redemption. Let’s see if we are on the right track. However, as you pointed out earlier, it won’t be an easy fix. The positive is, Cignetti proved it doesn’t take years and years to fix it. Question is, can we do a Cignetti at Auburn or not.

Corch your boy Josh Moon is defending Cam Coleman on Facebook.
and it appears he turned off the ability to comment.
His point was you cant criticize loyalty when the NCAA has robbed players from profits for decades.
Personally I want the athletes poor again. They ate infinitely better than I did when I was in school. They were infinitely well kept. Sure they couldn't feed their baby mommas but off the field in their college town they had it made. The CFB product was once so sweet. The rivalries. The loyalties. Only a blue haired weirdo takes such a shitty position as Moon's.

The calls for regulations and restrictions are shocking.
All regulatory bodies end up sucking, only benefitting a few.
A few teams will not dominate. Yes, 20 will dominate and only about 20 will have a chance to win big time.
A few schools will not get all the difference makers because several schools will be able to afford some difference makers and the difference makers will want to play.
As far as helping Cam Coleman on the field, the Auburn program has done jack crap in two years. So he's supposed to not pursue more money and trust some guy he didn't even know 60 days ago? Get real.
All of this NIL and portal is already helping with the once ridiculous contracts for coaches (see Auburn and Florida - and spare me muh Lane Kiffin - if anyone if proven, he is).

But you are wrong about Auburn being this average type program. We have historically played probably the most difficult schedule year in and year out for a majority or our program history. We are in the Top 13 of all programs.
I never said Auburn was average. I said Auburn averages 8-9 wins. thats not the same. Auburn is historically a top 20 program. That is not average.
And doing that in the SEC is a tough thing.
If we look at recent history, In talking the past 40-50 years, I dont know that average but honestly that is where the SEC was the SEC. There are some undefeated seasons which were amazing. But there are also some shite seasons which also have to be counted. Thats why I used average wins which some of you had a hard time handling.
Thats the good thing about history. We can count it and put a number on it. Not sure out opinions

Josh moon is an idiot but if Cam leaves keeps his mouth shut or sends out a canned message that he thanks the fans blah blah blah then I have no problem. Granted it would be nice to keep him but I’m not gonna hate a kid for doing what he thinks is best for himself.
Like I said earlier in this thread or the portal thread just let me know which color jersey to pull for because the players care nothing for the schools. I have no idea how some of these player are even graduating like TJ Finley 5 different schools in 5 seasons. I can remember for years credits not carrying over to another college. Maybe that shite doesn’t matter anymore with every university letting almost anyone in now just for revenue. Auburn is one of the few that hasn’t exploded in undergraduate enrollment. They have grown significantly in post grad students and may of them are online type masters

For the price of Coleman we could probably get the USF trio of Singleton, Koger, and Neptune all of whom already know the system. Not a bad trade off considering this would probably be Coleman’s last year anyway.

Makes sense so see ya Cam.

I agree, but I am afraid that is probably not happening again. Can't put the Genie back in the bottle.

how worried should we be?
Let's see what happens. Hopefully we can get some decent players out of the portal to replace the ones who are leaving.

Believe it or not, TJ finished his undergrad degree at Auburn. He should have a doctorate by now

So where is the clutching of pearls with M Simmons in the portal? He was more productive than Coleman but I didn't see a 8 plus page thread on him leaving...
Maybe we need more than one piece to keep. We need a lot to be competitive again. Even if we kept a lot of folks we need better folks to be competitive. Also for WR in this new offense we need some fast guys that can catch more than one on the field at a time. Ones that are hustling every play. So use the money from Coleman and get some better than average WRs that can get down the field & catch these 10 plus routes. But if we don't get linemen then forget it.

What?
56 rec 708 yards 5 tds vs 29 touches 499 yards 3 tds.

Just so yall know, if Cam ends up at Bama, I will be riding the theory that he fumbled the ball in the Iron Bowl on purpose
It will happen
It will happen

Freak it, nuke it all and get a bunch of JUCOs idc, I strongly dislike how the transfer portal and NIL has played out, but this whole system needs a change. I would much rather have a flat rate for NIL with the players who put in the effort on their own to get extra NIL, not from a collective.

I agree. He was not trying to get separation all night. Seems fishy.

Cam was never under a Bama trance. He was committed to A&M in high school because of Dameyune Craig. It will be best if he goes to Oregon.

but our PTB turned him into a program killer with that bullshite, very public, investigation into the assistant he brought with him from Boise.
Lets look at how this happened, which was a mix of credible reporting with unsubstantiated social media speculation.
Feb 3, 2022 - Justin Hokanson put out that Auburn was trying to fire Harsin. He didn't say anything about the cause.
This lead to Message Board/Twitter(X) rumors to grow rampant.
Feb 7, 2022 - The University makes it first statement that Auburn is making an inquiry to how Harsin treats players and coaches. Which let 4 days of internet rumors build.
Feb 11, 2022 - The University announced that the review was complete and Harsin would remain.
So who's fault is it really? I believe the AD fumbled this one by letting it leak to Hoke and not being transparent about it until days after. But it never had anything to do with the assistant and it was unfortunate that she and Harsin's family were brought into it by rumors.
Was the inquiry necessary? Probably. Derek Mason had just left to take a similar position (and I think for less money) at OK State 8 days before Hokes message. Austin Davis had been hired as OC in December and left 3 days before. It seemed that not many wanted to work with Harsin.
I only bring this up because I think people still misinterpret how it really went down.

From what I heard, it was because of Mason that everything got stirred up. He didn't like how he was being talked to. I think he may have made a comment about that girl too. There was smoke, just not enough fire to can Harsin at that time.
