11-27 as an NFL coach (soon to be fired)
47-43 as a college (0-11 vs ranked teams)
Graduated from Penn State. Coached at Albright, Buffalo, UCLA, Western Carolina, Temple and Baylor.
I’ll pass on the Yankee.

Yea, the portal will have to be used immediately. OL, WR, QB and edge are the immediate target positions.

Don’t really care what your NFL record is. Different game.

I don’t know how you look at his college resume and not be impressed.

Easy, he didn’t beat good teams. No way on Rhule.

2-16 against top 25 teams, total, while with Temple and Baylor.
The two wins? East Carolina and Navy.

I really don’t give a shite what his record vs top 25 is at Temple because he’s at Temple…
I really don’t give a shite what his record vs top 25 at Baylor in his first year is because he’s rebuilding.
Year 2 I start somewhat caring but he is rebuilding.
Year 3 I expect to see some results. He lost a one possession game to a playoff team. Lost in OT in a rematch with that same team. Then lost to UGA by two scores. This is at Baylor…that’s good…
But you hate him because he sucked at the Panthers so not sure why I’m even typing this.

He’d be better than what we have now. Just don’t know if he would be the best fit. I wouldn’t be mad with him being the guy, but there are others I’d be more excited about.

I don't hate him due to his time with the panthers. I would give more credit to Glenn Thomas and Jeff Nixon. Thomas is the current ASU OC. Nixon is the panthers OC I believe. Thomas was with him at Temple and Baylor and has a longer record in college. The ASU offense looked good this past weekend.

Here's an interesting thing about Matt Rhule's coaching staff while at Baylor. Look at where these guys are at now:
DB Fran Brown - currently Georgia's DB coach. He came to Baylor from Temple alongside Rhule.
DE/OLB Joey McGuire - currently Texas Tech's HC. Rhule hired him from a Texas HS in his first season.
QB Glenn Thomas - currently the OC and QB coach at Arizona State, and was the OC at UNLV from 2020-2021. He came to Baylor from Temple alongside Rhule.
TE Marcus Satterfield - currently OC and QB coach at South Carolina. He came to Baylor from Temple alongside Rhule.
DL Elijah Robinson - currently Texas A&M's DL coach and Assistant HC. He came to Baylor from Temple alongside Rhule.
WR Bob Bicknell - currently SR Offensive Assistant with the Saints, before that was the Bengals WR coach from 2018-2020. A career NFL coach that Rhule pulled onto his staff at Baylor for 2017.
WR Frisman Jackson - currently WR coach for the Steelers. He came up under Rhule at Temple and then became the Tennessee Titans' WR coach in 2017 before joining Rhule at Baylor in 2018.
DL Frank Okam - currently DL coach for the LA Raiders. Rhule hired him at Baylor in 2018 from Rice.
The guy clearly has an eye for coaching talent, considering how many of those guys he groomed or developed himself (or found). A significant portion of his coaching staff that was with him at Temple is now employed at some major or P5 teams.
His 2018 recruiting class is rated higher than any one of Aranda's to date. In fact, pretty much all of Aranda's best players from his 11-win season last year were recruited/signed by Rhule.

After much research, I have come to the conclusion that Matt Rhule is who we need. He has taken two non-traditional teams and had 10 game winning seasons with them.
He has that underdog, something to prove mentality that will fit in with Auburn. Let’s face it- our two biggest rivals are at the top of the college football pyramid, and don’t look like they’re going anywhere. He could use that to get us back on the map.
It’s almost like back in the 70’s with Bama, and Dye came here in the early 80’s and gave our program a shot in the arm. Dye helped to de-mystify the Tide and gave us an identity. That’s where we’re at again, only this time it’s Bama AND UGA.

Apparently he's VERY GOOD when it comes to dealing with the aspects of coaching beyond X's & O's, namely interacting with and getting what he wants from boosters/power-brokers.

Rhule was only at Baylor 3 seasons and took what was a complete dumpster fire coming off one of the worst scandals in NCAA history and improved that team every year and had them playing in the Big 12 championship year 3.
At Temple, he took a team coming off a losing season after transitioning back into the Big East and played in two conference championships and won the first conference championship since the 1960’s.
You can cherry pick his record against tougher teams but Rhule improved BOTH programs significantly in his short stints at both. He also beat Penn State while at Temple.

The prime timers need to go watch that clown show that happened after the Jackson State/Alabama State game Saturday. Including the pregame antics.Including the press conference afterwards. That is a "prime" reason that Auburn will never go there.

I agree with you.
You can’t hold NFL “failure” against ANY coach.
In NFL it is NOT the coach that makes a team successful, it is the QUARTERBACK.
This is exactly why Saban, Spurrier and Meyer failed.
You cannot, I repeat CANNOT “COACH” millionaire Divas. Impossible Today.

Are you talking about the Alabama State players yelling “f*** you ni**er” or the ASU coach acting like a complete dick and shoving Sanders after the handshake?
Not sure how either of those things reflect poorly on Deion Sanders. All he did was talk about how ASU had scheduled them for homecoming like they were going to be an easy win, then proceeded to kick their arse.

Prime wasn’t in the wrong there. Bama state coach was the jackass in that situation.
