Some of my fondest memories of Bruce Pearl coaching at Auburn, were when Bruce Pearl was the coach.

I wonder if there may be some sort of health issue that has come up or something? Because I agree that its pretty odd to wait until now to make the decision.

There will be a 30 day transfer window for AU players. Hold on to your butts.

It actually feels pretty strategic to me. Likely known a for a while he was done. Steven has done basically every interview since the season ended, and did a lot during the season.
Doubt we see much roster turnover (if any) given the timing of the school year. Gives Steven a year to prove himself and also look at outside candidates.
I would be surprised if this was a shock to the players.

My thoughts as well. Doing it now allowed Bruce to basically help get everything set up and ready to go for the season and all Steven really has to do is focus on the season.
Obviously everyone would prefer after the season, but I would be surprised if this was truly a shock to anyone in the program. Hopefully anyways.

Auburn should have little delay in naming Bruce Pearl Court at Neville Arena.

Yeah if it were right after the season you are asking whoever the next coach would have been to come in and completely start over on the roster, which obviously isn’t ideal. Now we get a solid roster and get to see Steven test drive it. Also allowing Steven to be the interim would have heavily incentivized Bruce to help build a good roster to try and set him up for success.
Could be off and Bruce just surprised the school, but even then I still fully believe he would only do it if he felt he had a good enough roster for Steven to succeed with.
Not the worst possible outcome IMO. Either Steven succeeds or we go find another guy.

Probably got guarantees from AIPAC that he will be installed as senator.

If he is running he better realize he won't have as easy a path as Coach Tuberville had. I had a bunch more typed up but I'll leave it at that and pick it up when it becomes a topic on another board.

Steven is most likely a really good coach and might even be able to keep the recruiting going initially. But, I just don't know that he can be his dad. Bruce just has such a presence with families, the fans, the media, the players, everyone. Hope Steven does really well but, its going to be hard.

It's okay, we already saw you.
I don't think he'd run if he didn't have enough support to win.

Thanks to Bruce for everything he did for Auburn............as a whole.
IMO, he is the greatest HC in Auburn history. He constantly sells the University, not jus bball. He turned a doormat of a bball program into a national power. That still blows my mind.
I selfishly was hoping for more from him. I wish him and his the very best of everything.
A million thanks, Coach. War Eagle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a great move for the Pearl's because it forces us to hand the keys to his kid with the season just about to crank up. Anybody have an example of this sort of handoff working out at any other program. Love Bruce and everything he has done for our program but this was a real selfish move. Steven should have gone somewhere for at least 2 years to run a program before being handed the keys to a Ferrari for his first vehicle.
