no, but he's certainly not the cutting-edge offensive mind I think most of us were hoping for. Hopefully Harsin fills that role well enough for the two of them
Yet people are clamoring to bring Dell McGee over for his recruiting prowess, and because its "Harsin's offense anyway". Now we are worried about Bobo's offensive style. People are just complaining because its not shiny and new.

Buzzwords that don’t have any meaning. Football isn’t overly complicated. We just let go of an “offensive guru” and “innovator” because his offense could no longer execute.
You win these days due to talent and execution. You don’t win many games by being more intelligent. There’s so much film out there that it’s hard to gain an edge by surprise.
Talent + Execution = Success.
We had neither at the end of Malzahn’s tenure. If Harsin believes Bobo can help bring in talent and execute, then let’s get him and get to work.

Their scheme isn’t a secret though and every staff full of analysts is constantly looking at it. If you have the right coaching staff in place you naturally adapt. Just as Alabama did after Malzahn’s success with the read option or LSU’s success with Burrow throwing the ball around.
I’d argue Alabama and LSU had far more success not due to scheme but due to putting their talent in a position to shine.

I was acquainted with his sister (platonic, you degenerates) a little over a decade ago. I do have vague memories of her talking about him being an Auburn fan.

Who didn't grow up an Auburn fan?
Shaq, Pope Francis, Dr. Dre and Snoop, Obama, (that actress that's hot right now), Susan Sarandon. They're all Auburn fans.

If Bobo is a candidate I would bet it’s because he’s a pro-style guy and Harsin is familiar with him from his time at CSU.
Bingo. I went back and watched some clips of Harsin when he was preparing for CSU. He said numerous times how much he respects Bobo and "what he does" at CSU. Said their offenses are tough to defend, etc. It didn't seem like coach speak to me, but that he genuinely respected him.
Harsin and Bobo had some barn burner of games against each other in the MWC. One game was like 53-50 and went into OT. Boise was down 28-3 and came back and won.
So, yeah, I don't buy the GOB conspiracy theory here. If there's any GOB at all, it is because Bobo is a GOB to SEC recruiting.

Bobo is from Thomasville GA, as i am. The southwest side of GA is a weird area for football.
We are close in proximity to FSU (right across state lines), and Auburn. you have a lot of AU,FSU and GA fans in the area being so close to the schools. i wouldn't doubt that he grew up an Auburn fan.
I grew up going to FSU and Ga games but love Au football, so who truly knows.

Bobo's dad was also a coach in the area and he attended UGA. Pretty confident the whole family was all UGA for a long time.

I haven't complained, but I can't help but recollect all those raging, reactionary Bobo comments from SC fans this past season. But I'll wait and see, and hope for the best like always.

Well, it's not like USCe was loaded with playmakers on offense this past year either.
Edit: Although they sure as shite looked like playmakers against us.

the 4.43 yards/play was the second lowest Auburn gave up this year (MSU was #1 @ 3.58)
AU had almost 200 more yards of offense
we lost cause Nix threw 3 picks with one of them giving the ball at our own 8 yard line

Not sure why people just assume scheme is rigid just because Malzahn was stubborn
Smart offensive coaches are able to adapt. Andy Reid, Sean Payton, Belichick in the NFL have all consistently adapted elements of their team's offensives to stay ahead.
I'm not loving the Bobo hire but I do t hate it. I trust he can consistently put out competent offensives , just maybe not record setting

It wasn't comments about the overall product that come to mind. It's the endless talk about his decision making. But I think he can definitely fix Bo, and Harsin will have his say.

Bobo is just there to recruit (great ties to GA as you know) and for qb coaching. CBH calls his own plays as i understand like Golding over there under Saban. He runs the defense period they could hire joe blow and get the same result its a smoke screen with a title

No he doesn't. I've watched Boise games since the hire and Harsin does not appear to be calling anything.

Saban doesn't call shite. His DC's do all of that. Now does Saban help coach D at practice? Yeah.
Saban wins no matter who the OC/DC is because he has better talent than everyone else. Period. That's why crootin is the most important thing for a coach.

JFC, some of y'all revel in the Auburn Inferiority Complex.

I think Richt and Muschamp may have limited Bobo. Definitely USCe talent limited him. I’m going to be cautiously optimistic that Harsin is a good coach and is bringing in the people to help him assemble and properly develop talent.
