You can’t throw out the good years but when there are more bad years than good years, it makes the good years less important. Nobody is saying Gus is incapable of having a good season. He just does it with such little consistency that the good years aren’t worth the bad years in between.

And even his good years aren’t that good. Outside of his first year we haven’t had a truly great year. Last year was solid but we wasted it by getting dick fricked by Georgia and UCF. I just want to go into every football season knowing we will be competitive.

You don't make long term decisions over a single recruiting class. Not like Gus is a great recruiter anyways.

I agree with all of that. This all started because I suggested that our players understood the offense better when it was just Gus’s offense. I didn’t remark on the record even

I think ol’ Boy just needed to vent. I’m happy to help people do that

Leath left Tuesday morning for a meeting in Washington, D.C., and, according to athletic department sources, left negotiations with Malzahn in the hands of trustee Raymond Harber

WTF??? Why would Allen Greene not be doing this? That sentence shows how clueless the leadership that handcuffed the school to the original contract is. Let people do their damn job and stop making shite worse by trying to save face.

Because this isn’t his frickup... this is on Leath and Harbert to fix, as it should be.

. . . or because none of this is true

Seems more like the click bait sites are offering a new rumor or agenda every day.

No athletic director in the country has unilateral authority to make $32mil buyout decisions. That's well above their paygrade/authority

This really is the dumbest thing I've heard on this situation. It can't be true. Got to be lots of missing pieces. Since when does an employee get to decide when he leaves? I guess when he's holding $49M in contractual obligations, but some of this just doesn't ring true. Isn't Harbert supposed to be a business whiz? How is he a party to such a fiasco of a contract? Jimmy Sexton can't be that good.

But more importantly, how do you think it sounds to recruits. High school kids and parents want to hear trumpets and rainbows about how awesome the coaches are and how there is a path to the NFL. Do you think that ANY of this sounds attractive to recruits? There's got to be more to this.

Marshall himself didn't spell it with a "k" at the end. He liked the "c" alone. Meant something to him. This was explained back in '14. You could probably google it. He had...affiliations.

Does this motherfricker actually do any work? He was just in Hawaii watching the basketball coach he tried to fire. Now he is going to DC. Must be nice to have one of these no real work jobs.

I’m just excited, I bet a part of the deal was to double the playbook to 8 plays with wrinkles.

What if they’re freaked they can’t get a big name for an affordable price?

With the way this has played out, if Gus stays for another Lame Duck year, 2019 and 2020 will be like probation years. The recruiting hits we'll take will be like losing 8-10 scholarships each year.

So how is that any different than what we have now with our current roster and rate of attrition?
