Kinda f’d that the portal opens during the week of the Sweet 16.

Would Elliot Cadeau fit into our roster next year?

Only if he greatly improves from 3. He was getting the Ben Simmons treatment at times this year where he man was giving him 5+ feet of cushion when he got to the 3 pt line.

The timing of the portal opening is beyond terrible. Just don't see how those in charge can't figure this one out. Basketball still going with teams preparing for huge games and coaches have to worry about "what does our roster look like next year", "what players are planning to come back", "who are we losing", "what transfers do we want/need to start talking to". That's a lot on a coaching staff to deal with the portal opening, all while preparing for sweet 16 matchups and beyond. Would love to hear about some of the top coaches banding together to push for a change.

Yeah it needs to just open the day after the final game.
I'm sure the highest level recruits are going to be willing to wait a week or two to get more communication from the top teams if there is interest/NIL opportunities so I dont think it hurts us too bad.

Myles Rice in the portal again. I believe he visited last year. Wonder if we kick the tires again?

He was pretty crappy this year. Combine that with the transferring after each season thing and I don't think he's someone I'd like to see us going after.

Magoon Gwath is in the portal from SDSU.
I think he's a little down the list, but one to keep an eye on.
Caduea from UNC is legit possibility. former teammate with Tahaad.
Heard US and Michigan for him.
Jamicheal Stillwell from Milwaukee is an eye to keep a name on too.
Think the kid from Iowa will end up at Creighton.
I still believe Yaxel from UAB will be out top guy at the 5.

A point guard that can't shoot 3s or hit free throws sounds pretty terrible for Bruce's offense. Trying to close out games with a PG that shoots FTs at 65% clip would be a nightmare. I've really enjoyed having good free throw shooters across the board at the 1-3 positions this year (and that was pretty huge for us in close games I think). I really don't want to see us go backwards there.

I'm not a fan. He's just never impressed me much.

Nehemiah Turner out of Central Arkansas may be worth looking at. 6'10" 265lb Forward. I think the Vols have some interest.

Wooley out of Kennesaw State is a name to watch to as well. Believe he’s out top target.
Although if Philon portals, and I think he will.
I’d assume bama would be tough to beat for him. (From Tuscaloosa)
Also, was told we want Yaxel at the 4 because that’s where his future is. Only 6’9.
So as for the 5 Im not entirely sure where we’re going.

He’s a homeless man’s Sharife Cooper
Curious if we really go hard after guards in the portal if we get the Bashir bros, Denver, Pettiford coming back, and add in Magwood. Not a ton of playing time to go around and that’s a great group. Maybe the second Bashir won’t come to us though

What's the story here? He's getting good minutes on a really good team as a freshman and doing well. Why would he want to leave?

Assuming he'd want to be the primary starting PG to improve his draft stock, and if he transfers it would be because he thinks Holloway is ahead of him as a starter.

Philon seems to be in better graces than Holloway with the Bama crowd these days. Philon is 6'4 I believe and showing talent. Hopefully he goes pro.

Agreed, Philon is much better than Holloway to me. He's excellent going to the basket.
Though if Philon staying another year means we get that Wooley guy Smuphy mentioned I'm good with him staying. Wooley looks like a stud and was just a freshman this year.

He’s a first rounder and shooting up draft boards. But if he doesn’t declare, he won’t go anywhere
