Not to be Debbie downer but Jabari broke his hand in practice today and will likely be out a couple months.

His dribbling ball skill has been lacking since college. He's still very good but that Houston squad is pure cancer.

Houston is actually very good (3rd in the West) and loaded with talent. Jabari just isn’t asked to score or be a focal point in their offense, which is a shame from an Auburn fan perspective for sure, but most rockets fans I follow who aren’t simply box score watchers are really happy with his play and improvement. He’s one of their best defenders, a great rebounder, and plays within the offense. His shooting percentages aren’t bad (not elite right now either tho certainly).

He was never going to be a #1 option in the NBA - he’s not explosive enough and has never had a great handle. I think as his career goes on he’ll get more opportunities to score, he’s just still young and learning to play team ball.

He was thought to be the #1 pick in the draft going into draft day and went #3. You don't get drafted that high if you're not expected to be a #1 option.

I never thought he could be a #1 option. For many of the same reasons I defended Pearl at AU for using WGJr to create in late game situations when we had Jabari.. he is just not really a playmaker.

Still a very useful guy and has turned into an elite multi-functional defender and will have a long and successful career. He is good enough to start on a future NBA champion imo as a glue guy 3 & D type

Jabari could be a #1 option, he just plays with shoot-first guards(Jalen Green, Van Vleet) & Sengun has a better post game.

A good coach would have Jabari playing high post ball and then face up wing 3s. He has a game similar to Dirk, and Dirk played with pass first guards.

The best players in the league aren't explosive

I agree and the way Houston uses him he's never going to put up big numbers. He's basically just there for spacing and defense.

I don’t think so. Lacks the court vision and bag. He could definitely be utilized more than he is though.

After it took a complete takeover from KD Johnson to save our #1 ranking vs Mizzou when Jabari was here, I just didn't ever see him being aggressive enough to be a number one scoring option in the league. His jumper not being as automatic as I thought it would be in the NBA also hurts his output.

I thought the same thing until I saw him cook MFers in the Summer league after his rookie season because he was the focal point of the offense.

Playing with ball dominant guards get you turned into Chris Bosh & Kevin Love... they were 24/12 guys before Lebron.

Yeah, I thought for sure Jabari would be a 38%+ three point shooter on the NBA. Him being a mid 30s 3pt guy has been very surprising to me.
