The two travel calls were just wrong.

“ Lifting the pivot foot: You cannot lift your pivot foot and then put it back down before starting your dribble. You can, however, lift your pivot foot to shoot or pass.
Illegal foot movement: Falling to the ground, or even sliding, without maintaining a pivot foot can lead to a travel violation.
"Gathering" the ball: After ending your dribble, you can take two steps to either shoot or pass.

I’m sure he practices his footwork. Even the announcers thought the calls were not right at the moment.
