Nope. That's just the result of the firing, but not the reason

Maybe so but Kiesau was attending meetings and what not before the firing.

He's the "Run Game Coordinator". It's just a stupid title to make him seem more important and keep him content.

He's also "Associate Head Coach". Same concept applies to that too.

We need people that can call the game at the coordinators spot.

Not just a position coach that can also recruit. Generally speaking all position coaches should be able to recruit.

Jeff Grimes is the only homerun hire even slightly realistic.

With all the buyouts auburn is paying we will probably get the coach from the pretend high school who pirates his playbook from madden

Agreed. Get a guy that can develop qbs and call a game.

Grimes is probably one of if not the best offensive line coaches in the country, but I’m not sure what quarterbacks he has ever developed.

No. It means we likely just promote from within

Surely they'll announce the hire before ESD, right?

The hold-up tells me they are looking at an OC who is coaching in a championship game. This tells me that Ludwig (Utah) might be a target. He and Harsin have history.

Just a guess.

Well, that makes no sense. There are coaches probably coaching in the playoffs that have already accepted other jobs.

Or Grimes. He’s coaching in the Big12 championship.

Possible, but not because of money. Yes we are paying Gus a couple of million a year, but the total of Gus' buyout and Hars Salary is around $7.25 Million. (We would have had to pay Gus a similar number had he stayed)

Especially for a coordinator hire.

Put it this way:

LSU paid Ed Orgeron just over $9 million for 2021.

In 13 days, they will pay him another $5 million for the first payment of his buyout.

Over the course of 2022, they will pay him an additional $2 million.

Meanwhile, they will pay new HC Brian Kelly an $9 million for the 2022 season. If his team qualifies for a bowl, he will receive another $500k.

So, over the course of two seasons, LSU will have paid approximately $25,500,000 to their football head coaches. This amount is completely exclusive of any other coaches' salaries or buyouts.

I’d love to have Grimes, but would Harsin be willing to step in to handle the QBs….or bring in someone else who can.

Word on the street is Friend will be leaving, so that would let Grimes slide into the Oline position. And then Harsin can bring in a QB coach.

Didn’t we have Jeff Grimes a few years ago? I seem to remember us not being happy with him and that we wanted his dad back. Am I thinking correctly? Or did I get that backwards?

Grimes was here under Chizik, and Gus didn’t retain him despite the fact he was better than any line coach Gus brought in.
