Shot 45% from 3 on 108 attempts. Dude is absolutely a shooter.

Out of curiosity, why would you take a 3rd string All SEC over a 1st string ie: Gillespie, Clayton, etc.

I understand “our child” is always the MVP and we’re loyal, but let’s be real we could upgrade our PG position. Move Petti to the 2

We haven’t had a solid PG in all aspects of the game since the Harper years

Then he better become a hell of a lot better passer this off-season or it's going to be another frustrating seaso

He can pass just fine. He does get sloppy at times though and that's what he has to clean up. He does the same thing dribbling but I don't think anyone would say he can't dribble.

It's like people are ignoring the fact that our crappy offense in SEC play was in a large part due to his inability to be a good PG.

Fair. I don't think the offense we ran helped him too much and as a team we didn't share the ball enough but to improve as a pg he needs to be a more willing creator next season.

PG play kept us from winning a title a few years back.

We either need him to take a severe leap forward, or move to 2 and get an Elite PG

As much as Pettiford's passes got under my skin I do believe he can play better.

Also he isnt the number one reason our offense failed.

There was mediocrity at 2-5 in long stretches throughout the season.

Also, Sophomore Jared mother fricking Harper would not be able to take the elite 8 ball game over by doing layups against trees.

He wouldn't. He got better and more savvy.

We need Petty to keep getting better and more savvy.

Can he finally have consistency throughout the entire season? Being the “QB of the offense” and going 1/6 and 0/4 isn’t going to cut it if we want to cut down the nets.

That’s why I want an Elite PG to be our consistent when we get bad Tahaad night (3/9 and 0/6 vs Mizzou)

Here’s my references:

It's funny because I kind of agree with your point on Pettiford as a PG overall but here are some random Jared Harper games from his 3rd and final season in which he lead us to the final four..

road loss to Ole Miss 1/9/19: 3/14 FG
home loss to Ole Miss 2/13/19: 1/8 FG, 2 assists, 6 TO's
home win over Arky 2/20/19: 3/9 FG

Midway through SEC play whether we’d make the tournament at all was still up in the air.

That team just got smoking hot at the right time.

IIRC we were 7-7 in league play and firmly on the bubble after the Ole Miss home loss. Didn't lose again until Virgina double dribbled.

I dont know if you are agreeing with or what but Ben was the biggest pussy about Pettiford on the board.

So where are you going with this.

It was a year of ups and downs. Played really well in Maui then dipped a bit in early SEC play then went on an absolute tear after it all came together.

Is he Overton’s backup when 2026-2027 begins?

Good size.

With who we have on the roster at the moment, I'd assume Walker will be the first off the bench there unless Williams comes in and balls out. He is definitely talented, just a little raw. Would love for him to come in a push for the backup spot there though, his length at the 2 would be awesome.

With Walker not being able to carve out a role on last year's team, I am hoping he will never carve out a substantial role since I hope that was our weakest team in a while.

Do I believe he can get better yes. Do I want to see him on the floor no.

I fact checked you because iron sharpens iron and need you waking up ready to go 1-0.

Our last loss before the Virginia loss was not Ole Miss but our arse beating in Rupp.

Schedule says we played Georgia next.

And I distinctly remember that game was up in the air until Chuma hit a long two point shot wih very little time left and that is what pushed Auburn over the edge.

That Auburn team was not as talented as our last final four team. It was not nearly as physically imposing; it was timid, and trying to gel. Once Okeke got aggressive everyone else flourished. Auburn running UNC off the floor broke that program. so says I.
