BB is an odd sport. Reminds me of national championship Cheerleading. Everyone gets a title or a trophy. I found this years AU team entertaining. Glad those guys got one of those trinkets.

Good thread. Thanks for updating Corch.

I think it is more than that.
14 teams played 18 games, and we had the best record at 15-3.
That is winning something.

After having a few days to process how this season ended, I put the blame squarely on this thread for jinxing everything

True. Corch did an objectively good job keeping the thread updated so I'm not hurling stones but this thread clearly had bad juju

Lol yes I will take the blame. If we can go 28-6 I’ll do it every year and “jinx” us

I never thought differentiating a regular season bball league vs. tournament champ was complicated... but here we are.
Congrats to the team on a good year. I wish I could be disappointed with us going out in the round of 32 more often.

Miami isn’t a bad loss. Their team is 2019 level fun

Yeah they get after it. Can’t believe this is their first Elite 8.

Which makes for a great trivia question: who was the last NC in football to not field a men’s basketball team?

Nope, and they beat Iowa St, with the same play they beat us down the stretch.THose guards are fun to watch.
ANd as we have seen all but 1 '1' go down even before the sweet 16, a lot of those teams are much more frustrated and disappointed with great coaches too.
That's how the NCAA's go.... so I don't think we call Pearl a failure, once we saw down the stretch where our weaknesses lie, and they were the worst weaknesses for playing in the tournament(small, poor shooting guards).

Exactly. In the tournament where St Peters can happen and 1’s and 2’s can fall like flies we have to be firing on all cylinders at that point. Missed FTs, lazy turnovers, missed easy putback shots, and a buzzsaw matchup put us down. I’m disappointed that Bruce didn’t have his team better prepared. When our team looks THAT fundamentally bad it looks like Bruce just stacks talent and rolls a ball onto the court.
