Auburn has twice the talent and it’s not even close.
This, there is no reason whatsoever for it to be close.
We are up by two touchdowns before the half.
I could not find roster rankings for 2025 but last year, Auburn was around #18 and Baylor was in the upper 40's.

They may have an advantage at QB and a very slight advantage at RB, but there is no other position group on the field where they should have an advantage.

remind me again why i still subject myself to this madness

They've got some pretty good size in the trenches

Its game week. We are 3 days away from tip off.

Yeah. I think we've got talent by a fair margin. They've got QB by a hopefully small one. Coaching is TBD, but I'm certainly not ready to give us the nod. They've got environment.
I think it's a small advantage to us, Vegas is probably right. AU 24 Baylor 16 in a slop fest. We score late for breathing room.

I think it’s either a comfortable win or a close loss. Could see it going either way.

Baylor 13

Our DB is far far better than their receivers and it will allow Durkin to bring it early and often, their QB will be anointed to an SEC defense.
Our receivers all two deep are far better than their DBs, Arnold will feast early and often.

I’m confident in our DBs but it’s the first game of an entirely new season and we gave up a bunch of big plays in the pass game last season. One of the worst of I’m not mistaken on 20+ yard completions on the season.

I’m watching the player interviews and these guys show no fear. They are ready to take it to them. They look like they have been watching tape and know they are about to obliterate Baylor but are trying to hold back to not seem cocky.
We’ll win by 3 TD at the least.

I hope they are think we have to scratch and claw to try to come out with a W. Seen way too many loses lately against over matched teams.

Here's an interesting stat.
On 3rd and short, Auburn was last in SEC in yards allowed and last in 1st downs allowed.
On 3rd and 4-6, Auburn was the best in SEC in both yards allowed and in 1st downs allowed.
On 3rd and 7-9, Auburn was 2nd in yards allowed and tied for first in 1st downs allowed.
On 3rd and 10+, Auburn was LAST in yards allowed (by a large margin) and last in 1st downs allowed.
So Auburn was amazing on 3rd and mediums/longs, but god awful on 3rd and shorts and 3rd and very longs.

I don’t. That is a scared mentality. I hope they go in knowing they’re going to kick arse.

Yep we gave up way too many big plays especially on critical downs. I love our DBs but until we go completely lock down for 6-8 games every position is a show me or prove it situation for me. But I can still be positive about the potential.

Same here. I think it'll go one of two ways:
The offense has improved and lives up to their talent level, we cut down on turnovers, and win around 31-20 or so.
Or Hugh continues to coach like crap and the offense doesn't live up to potential and we lose like 27-20.
Hopefully we see the former, but I can't say my confidence level is high despite us having a solid talent advantage on paper.
I have confidence in the defense looking solid even if they make understandable youthful mistakes, but not as much confidence in Freeze having a good offensive game on the road against a somewhat decent team in our first game.

I think it’s more simple than that. Really really simple. Goes on both lines of scrimmage. Run the ball on offense when you “need” to. Stop the run when you “need” to.
We could not run at all when we needed to last season. We couldn’t get off the field on defense when we needed to.
Granted we have all seen the first game madness of bad special teams snaps, missed FGs, missed tackles, penalties, etc.
But being able to run when you need to and stop the run when you need to all goes back to being physical every snap. Very rarely does the “more physical” team lose.

Auburn opening drives were complete dogshit last year as well. If we werent last in the SEC, it sure as hell felt like it.

PFF podcast had some great stats.
Auburn's run defense was good last year.
Auburn ran "man" coverage second only to LSU last season and graded pretty effectively.
Most of Baylor's QB success was against very bad defenses. Graded far lower against better defenses and VERY poorly when pressured.
In summary, if Auburn stops the run, forces them to pass, goes man and brings pressure, it might not be a very pretty night for the Baylor offense.
On the flip side, their DBackfield was terrible last year....and they lost their two starters.
Word from practice is Arnold is running the RPO reads fantastically well....and he has not been able to use his legs.
Just do your assignments, and for that DL, you get 20 snaps, make em count, or the next man will.

Nope no Jim Jones Kool-Aid this game... Everyone who can afford the price has been doing upgrades.
Hugh hasn't proven he's not the wrong type of offensive. Our QB has yet to wear Orange and Blue on game day. The Oline is not getting a nod either way. Our special team guys were short bus riders, head cases, and the whole team a turn over machine. And while everything points to a much improved D, which was our strength, they might have been getting ready against a bunch of pansy's.
Auburn 32 to 17
Because we're stacked far deeper and they're going to be overwhelmed in the second half. I'm taking the dollars and sense approach until seeing what we've got.
edit: to remove BAD dollar figures for Baylor
