As the color guy said last night, he will not stay in the NBA long if he doesn't develop an outside shot and a pretty good 3 pt shot.

I have not seen him make a consistent quality 3 yet. as a matter of fact most don't have a chance of going in. Even the 1 3 he made last night the announcers were saying that was one of the ugliest 3 he ever seen.

As jang said earlier, his ability to dribble drive seems to also be a product of his poor ability to make jump shots.

Again, he has been solid there the last two games and there is a reason he started at point the last game that Powell was available. Not saying it's preferable or that he should be playing point but he can be serviceable in a backup pg role.

1) he’s small;
2) he isn’t an elite shooter;
3) he’s not an elite defender

I am not sure how he could go in the first round unless he scores 20 plus points and 10 plus assists every game.

You're looking at his weaknesses. Nearly every player has weaknesses.

The reality is most people are drafted on strengths, and his are otherworldly.

It's only been two games.....but he isn't ready for the NBA yet. His shot needs a lot of work. Tremendous player. I just don't think he could make an NBA roster right now.

I hope he takes the Chris Paul route and does 2 years at least, work on the shot.

He can work on his shot in his own gym he buys after landing a 1st rnd pick

Just enjoy him while he’s here...maybe he comes back but probably not.

Scoot Henderson futurecast to Auburn. If he reclasses, problem solved for next year.

He's making a living with acrobatic drives and FTs but we've already seen him get clowned a few times doing that due to his size/strength. Some of those outside looks were just awful. He just won't get away with it in the NBA. Right now he looks like what he is - an elite, just-out-of-high school player who is trying to do the same things in college ball, and at least through two games, getting away with it really well.

Right now I don't think he's ready, but I bet he'd get drafted fairly high based on raw ability. I do think him stalling out down the stretch could change that - meaning even if he remains productive, if he's he's not refining his game to a more NBA-capable style his stock could suffer. But I also won't be surprised if he looks like a much more mature player in only a few weeks time, either.

Cooper, like Okoro, is a rapid developing work in progress.

If you watch tape of these guys in 6 month intervals - it is amazing how much they improve.

Contrast that to a guy like Purifoy or Wiley who made slow and steady improvements over 3-4 years.

To make an assessment of Cooper’s draft potential today is fruitless. Wait for 2 more months of basketball and you will see a much more rounded outside shooter.

I hope he stays for selfish reasons but I expect him to succeed in the NBA in a short time.

Chuma, too.

The guy we really need to look at is Allen Flanigan. He is gaining steam for draft position.

Can everyone now agree to slow their roll on one and done? Kid is a huge talent and fun to watch, but he needs a lot of work on his shooting.

I literally live on the same road as McEachern, but about 5 miles away. I wish I had gone to watch these guys in high school

Are you talking to message board posters or NBA scouts and gm’s? Of course he has things to work on but you’re just denying reality if you don’t think he’s good enough to be a first round pick this year

First round...maybe.

Lottery...top 10 money...no.

If he wants the too money he needs more seasoning in college on his jump shot and finishing at the basket.

The NBA doesn’t need just a good dribbler and passer.

Seriously, what makes you say that? If he played for another school, would you say the same thing? He dishes the ball well. That is not enough to make you a first rounder. His size hurts him. He isn't taking it to the rim in the NBA. He doesn't shoot the ball well, yet.

He is fantastic. He just needs to develop.

Yes, I would. It’s not just his passing ability although he has unique vision, but he has elite play making ability in general and no one in college can guard him. Herb Jones from Alabama is a great defender and they had to switch because he couldn’t keep him in front of him. He has completely elevated our team and we probably wouldn’t have won the last few games without him. The NBA is more about skill than it is size as a PG and he will drive the lane there also, just not as much once he develops a more consistent outside shot. He made several plays in the lane today over and around UK’s 7 ft center.

I will say we’ll see a lot more teams defending him the way UK did today. It is the only hope of trying to contain him. Packing the lane and going under screens, daring him to shoot it from outside. But we made adjustments and it still wasn’t enough to contain him. Also teams can only pack the lane so much with our ability to shoot it outside from multiple positions, although we didn’t shoot it particularly well today.

I hope he comes back because if he works on his outside shot and defense, he could be a lottery pick but I also think he’d be a mid-late first round pick if he chose to leave after this season.

I agree. Thor just continues to get better and better. He will also be a high draft pick in the years to come. I hope he’s not in a hurry and sticks around for a few years.
