Yea, that would make sense. Isn't Vestavia's actual high school grades 8-12, or am I mistaken?

At region 4.

Hazel Green? Sparkman? Grissom? Buckhorn?

Jesus, they'll get demolished.

I suppose Gadsden City has the most potential to dominate their region.

Opelika is 6A in a region with Oxford, BRHS, and some others... those three are strong but the rest looks pretty weak -- valley, chilton co, and pell city.

back in the day, BRHS/OHS was as big (if not bigger) rivalry than Auburn/OHS.

they'll still play each other, i'll bet... no way those two won't meet up.
True. It has been the last region game of the year and in many cases recently the region championship has been on the line.

Depends on the sport. Football probably, but region 4 currently occupies half of the top 10 in the latest 6A girls basketball rankings. And most years boys basketball is the same.

We play basketball up north, still trying to catch up in football.
Yup. Was only speaking to football. Y'all mother truckers own basketball for the most part.

I know it mostly has to do with school sizes but I mean, I'm from the area and Smiths should probly not be in that region as far as football prowess goes. Give Opelika the spot. Smiths Station beat Opelike for the first time in like 20 years this year.

not having smiths, OHS, Auburn, and CPCHS grouped together is going to be weird.

Is region 4 the weakest?

Yes. And sadly my old High School will likely still finish last.

Region 3 still the buzzsaw.

Did they not count John Carroll as 5/3rd a person or w/e to move them up a division. Again.

huh... Daphne got left out of 7A but Fairhope and Foley move up???

6A Region 1 looks like it has a few good teams, kind of has that underrated feeling to it.

7A Region 1 has McGill written all over it. I guess Davidson and MAYBE Murphy would be the main challengers. Bryant is nothing like they use to be and neither is Theodore.

It's based on school size. Daphne is only the 10th largest of the new 6A schools.

oh okay.

I remember years ago when Fairhope's program fell way off because they had students/players coming down from Spanish Fort and Daphne.

it was about 1989 or 1990 Daphne built their own school. So everyone from Spanish Fort and Daphne went to Daphne.

now Spanish Fort has their own school and Daphne's program has taken a bit of a hit. So far, they've been unable to beat Spanish Fort the only two times they've played.

Yea if Gadsden City is in Oxford should be, too. and speaking of Oxford, Coach John Grass just got the HFC job at JSU.
