Problem with that is that it will immediately attract a lot of unnecessary negative press especially from the gumps, so I doubt they will ever hang a banner or update actual stadium and other signage.

Nobody ever earned a NC before the playoffs, so I guess the number of NCs any school can accept is a finite number, indeed.

We were pretty good then. We had more dominating years but we should claim this one.
Harvard played all of their games but 1 at home. Chicago played all of theirs but 2 at home.

Bama has titles where they lost their bowl, didn't win the conference, didn't even win the division, lost multiple games. I looked at it once and AU would have 10+ titles counting like Bama so I'm all for it. Hang the banners print the shirts.

What does earning have to do with anything? What else could they have done to earn it? They went undefeated in dominating fashion in the sec. They earned the right to claim whatever they want

Claim it all you want. It wont matter. We were not the champions. There was a process to be the champions, we were not in it unfortunately.

Before the BCS, championships were claimed. Not after
But claim it if you want. Hell, fly the banner. Dont mean anything. We didnt win the BCS Championship game so we can not be the champions

The bcs was still a completely subjective system and all it did was put it's top two teams against each other. You don't have to go back very far to find another team that claimed and was recognized as national champs after not playing in the bcs game

All the playoff system is, is the BCS system plus two teams. Teams are selected the same way as before, subjective, and we just let the other two teams play as well.
Im not saying either system was right or the right way. I am just saying that we had a system then that defined who the champion was. 1 vs 2. Winner is the champ.
Just because the championship got taken away from the winner does not mean that a team that didnt even play in the championship game should claim it.
I dont care if Auburn claims it. Do it. But its like that sex doll you have hidden under your bed bro. It aint real.
