Am I the only one that's viewing these one-year transfers from smaller schools as essentially JUCOs? Between normal attrition and coaching turnover, we've got holes in the rotation and need depth. If any of these guys turn out to be good enough the start, that's even better.

This dude wouldn’t see a snap at Alabama.

Sure, but you can't build a roster with them. At least not one that is going to compete in the SEC. But you already know that. What sort of Internet fan points are you trying to achieve by pretending like things aren't going very poorly right now?

I think you guys are focusing too much on the 1 year guys. Waste of time. They’re rentals that fill an immediate need in a year that we’re not going to be very good anyway. They’re not program builders.

Marcus Harris is coming from Kansas. I’ll give you that. But Finley is from LSU, Ke’Shun Brown is from A&M, Kaufman from Vandy, etc. Those are multi-year kids coming from other SEC schools.

These are just moves being made to shore up depth.

Probably not but people said this about Mac Jones. Guys develop and surprise you. Gus has made some of you forget that development happens in most other programs

He has made it clear he wants to play. Houston could lead here

Finley. Well bama picked up Ty Simpson on Friday so class wise he would be bookended with two five stars.

Doubt bama would even offer, they could use the scholly other places, and Bryce would be shopping if it happens, he has been waiting patiently.

I get that development happens and I think he could develop into something where there is an opportunity. I just don’t see an opportunity at Alabama

I don't either. Alabama would be at the tail end, bc Young is a top level thrower, and if he succeeds as a So, then Finley wouldn't have a chance to start for 2 more years.

I would think he wants to start this year, or definitely next year somewhere...

Finley says Alabama wants him to come in and compete with Young.

Sound familiar? It’s what Harsin is saying too. Is that reality? Not really. But what do both of these coaches see? They see that they have a starter (Nix/Young), an older guy that won’t get the job done (Loy, Tyson), and a 2021 kid that’s nowhere near ready (Davis, Milroe).

Harsin just went through a season where he was starting his 3rd string QB. He wants more options. Saban is doing the same thing.

Will Finley see through all of this and head elsewhere? Probably. He said Bama, Auburn, Penn State, A&M, Texas, Ole Miss are all schools that are talking to him right now. My guess is that he finds a better opportunity to start than all of these schools he’s talking to. But he has over 2 weeks still to sort it out

He has enough eligibility such that there isn't much necessity in him finding a place that will guarantee him a starting position. I'm sure he WANTS that like any transfer would want, but to do that he will need to transfer down in level. Who is going to assure him a starting position? He's a guy who only played last season because the starter got hurt, and then he didn't play too well and got benched. Everyone can see the upside, but that resume isn't going to have a lot of "step in and play" opportunities unless he's going DOWN like Willis did when he transferred to Liberty. So the question is how badly does he want to play at a "top conference" school. The NFL has shown in recent years that they will fairly evaluate small-school quarterbacks.

So funny and so true. I just read an article where they interviewed the Penn St QB who is transferring to KY. And his comments are a cookie cutter response of what he said and the KY coaches told him to what Finley said and what he heard from AU coaches...

So right, they all are saying the same thing, so it's hard to pick up any 'leanings', by their comments.

I'm sure if he isn't named the starter wherever he ends up we will see him in the portal again. He sounds more like a Tate Martell than a Justin Fields

We have three scholly QB's, two if you look at Loy's performance in the spring game. We need a body in that room so I'm sure the AU staff is pumping as much shite as they have to for someone to come. If Nix gets injured we'll be running a 5'11" true freshman out there.

Arguing over how the transfer portal should be used is very premature. It’s never been done before. I personally think it’s ridiculous and bad for the game as a whole. Any diamonds in the rough a mid level team finds and develops is just going to leave for greener pastures. But since it’s here a team like Auburn can benefit. We don’t want a roster full of Kansas players, but we sure could use Kansas’s best player. Unfortunately it may help the top top even more than it does us, but maybe not since we need it more than a team recruiting like a couple of our rivals are.

Why are they saying Kaufman is arguably the best defensive player at Vandy and he only played two games? Just curious, not trying to be negative.

Just the guy with the most talent on that team honestly. But in the 2 games he played (LSU and A&M) he showed flashes of being the best player on their defense and a really good kick returner.
