Unpopular opinion here, but I am not excited about taking ULs WR and OLmen. We keep building our roster with CUSA talent and expect to win.

ETA

And the Ivy League isn't better.

Yep… that’s what we’re doing… taking a CUSA teams entire roster and putting auburn jerseys on them.

Some of you just need to keep opinions to yourself.

It’s a fair enough opinion and we can’t make this a plan A. However, not every transfer is the same. At the point where kids are getting offers from schools like UF, OU, LSU,
Michigan State, Ole Miss, etc., and it’s a position of need, then we need to be on them.

Better than a kid transferring from Auburn or LSU or any other P5 to a G5 school. Snagging a kid from Ohio State’s bench just because we were the only ones that wanted him doesn’t help us. That’s how I see it for now

Well let’s just ignore the fact that they’re getting offers from other Big 5 programs.

I get really tired of the same ole lazy arguments from some of you.

I get that. Picking up a kid who may have been over looked is fine. I am just pointing out over the last two cycles, we have taken a Utah State, Northwestern, Vandy, and UAB talent. Now looking at Cornell and UL. Again, it may be fine but I don't think asking the question is unreasonable when the last the Champs are our three main rivals.

but you have to blindly trust the coaching staff who has proven nothing.

We've got some solid defensive transfers. However, on offense, its a completely different story. The same goes for in coming freshman. Our crown jewel is the 19th ranked QB.

100% what we’re saying.

If you had a guy from the CUSA with no quality offers then fine, criticize it. But it’s lazy to just sit there and call a guy CUSA talent when he’s got offers from several big time programs.

And it’s not trusting our coaching staff because you’re looking at who else thinks they’re good enough.

I'm hoping this transfer portal to fill glaring holes is just temporary while Harsin builds the roster with players he needs and fit his system. Rating in *'s is meaningless if the kid isn't a fit. Tubbs had sustained success with 3 and 4 * kids that fit his scheme and beat rosters littered with 5* talent. If we are here again next season I will panic, but for now I am going to trust what he builds. Oh and that our NIL program will step up and grab kids we need that are a good fit more than we miss on them.

From a transfer perspective, I’d rather go after lower level overachievers than P5 underachievers.

Talent is already starting to filter up to the higher levels… we’re seeing the separation take place. If you’re not in it, then you’re gonna miss out.

This is so true. and one size doesn't fit all.

How many players has Auburn lost to the portal that were 4* 5* players who coming from a P5 school(us), still didn't make it at another school.

We have had success getting players from all kinds of small schools, NE small schools who have been starters for us and played well.

And bc we have gotten players through the portal that never panned out shows its a player by player review and end result.

So i trust the coaches who bring in kids they expect or hope to be starters or they bring in kids to compete and provide depth. THat's all you can hope for.

This right here. Harsin did a good job of using the portal last year, lets see how he does it this year

I know what you are meaning but Pyburn is not a portal guy.

He is a 2023 recruit I think...

What's our problem with getting offensive players to want to play here?

Defensive players are coming in droves, but a 3* OT is the best we can do for 2022?
