I would think the presentation would be showing the kid plays we want to run. Then showing him perform similar plays in high school and saying "now you know why we want you here, you are perfect for the offense we want to run".

A presentation is never boring when its visual, shows motion....and you are the star.

And if I was a skill player, Id love the focus on discipline...heck my knees would love it, because I knew you were going to be making the OL bust their tails in the weight room.

Awestruck,

Thanks for the link that was a good read on transfers, I was looking for a place with a summary of the gains and losses.

We did fantastic (and I think the two that did not make the 150 cut were discounted), and we also filled the holes where needed which is a double plus.

You sell players on having fun. That’s why Tropper and Luper were so successful here. Kids had fun when they visited.

Now with that said, no one cares if your coach will dance in the locker room if you aren’t winning. The most fun thing you can do in football is win, but you can’t make every recruiting pitch feel like a post lunch PowerPoint presentation.

Partly but Saban’s big draw is he calls it a business and he’s helping them build their brand. He sells the program giving them the best platform to go pro and utilizes all the high round contracts signed. He provides mentoring and classes on making good business decisions and building their wealth. He also does a lot of fun activities to build relationships. He is intense and has high expectations and demands work ethic.

They provide top facilities, nutrition, etc. All top talent believes they will go pro. He has years of proof his program prepares them and rewards them better than most programs with high round drafts. Plenty of perks for players choosing Bama. Hence top classes and championships.

I am hoping this is Harsin’s goal to build our program that way. We are working to get top facilities. I for one am excited to see how it plays out.

They handed out cash. I was personally involved with Trooper. You can have fun on any college campus. There's no difference.

Agreed. It sounds like they’ve realized they may have been too rigid initially and are going to relax a little. Wouldn’t shock me if that’s why they are showing so many fun team activities on social media. But at the end of the day, the players need to treat their football related activities like they’re going to work.

Correct, but you have to at least give kids a picture of that fun. Sounds like the coaches know that though so I’m excited to see how Big Cat goes.

Auburn-Opelika area recruiting continues to be a struggle

It always has been and baffles the shite out of me. Win Lyle is the last AHS player I can remember who was recruited successfully to AU. Am I missing anyone? Had I done a better job as bagboy / bagman, Joe Whitt Jr., Cody Core, Demarcus Ware and several others would have had very different careers. They were all class acts and good students according to my Mom who taught them and and their brothers and sisters at AHS. Sorry Fam. In my own personal experience, I can understand wanting to get out of Auburn. Years later most of us realize how special a place Auburn is and how awesome Auburn people can be.

Sounds like we're in pretty good shape for both Fair and Albert. Add Clemons and I think that's a decent WR haul.

I think there is a lot of work left to do to land Clemons

KN @247 says Jakobi Albert will be at BCW on the 25th.

Kentucky’s recruiting insider CB’d him to Auburn

By end of day August 1st, 4* DL Caden Story, 4* RB Damari Alston, 3* ATH Jakobi Alston, 3* OG Drew Bobo and 3* WR Jay Fair would be nice pickups after the recent stretch we’ve had.

Albert probably won’t get enough buzz but he’s done nothing but rise in the rankings, currently about 3 spots shy of a 4* composite grade. His ability to play both CB & WR may hold him back from a more elite rating

With Bobo down to UGA and Auburn, I could see that going either way. Having his dad is nice but this is a kid that knows that coaching stints are temporary.

He can do that now because of the success of the program and his coaching. He has earned that. Thats why its different there.

Thats not something that Harsin, Gus or just about any other coach out there can sell like Saban does. First you have to have the success, then you can sell the ticket.

Win Lyle was a walk on so I doubt there was a lot of recruiting going on but I think we have had a couple of local products, mostly from Opelika. Auburn High had Marcus Washington, John Sullen and Phillip Yost. Montae Pitts played at Loachapoka but he grew up in Auburn. Opelika had Tez Doolittle, Tommy Jackson, Will Herring, Lamarcus Rowell. All of those are from years ago though. Not sure what the issue is lately.

Yeah, thank you. Another of my Mom's students and total class act. I also forgot Ace Atkins, I guess somewhat famous author now, AHS '89 I guess. If I remember correctly, he was recruited and signed by AU and did contribute at DE. Forgot or didn't know about Philip and his recruitment by AU. He was a good kicker a few years behind me.

Does anyone know if Marcus Washington and Demarcus Ware played together at AHS? It seems they were close.

And frick, then there was......frick mmmeeee! The Nigerian kid who transferred into AHS and went on to wreck his fair bit in the League. Oh, right. This guy: LINK

Osi. Why not AU? I mean..........frick. Radio.....LOL and what's his other face that fricked AU at the last minute a few years back....LB or DE that went to Bama. I've never figured out why AHS has not been more of a talent pipeline.

ETA: He may be British. Irrelevant to my point, but I may not have my facts straight on exactly where he was from originally. I do know he went to AHS, was my mom's student, and went on to wreck shite elsewhere.

Marcus and Demarcus Ware never played together. I graduated with Marcus in 96 and ended up coaching Demarcus in Baseball a couple of years later. I do think Demarcus and Obi might have played together, not sure. Demarcus played WR too if I remember correctly....It seems like since the Ruben Foster crap we haven't had much luck at AHS

I haven’t had a chance to watch any highlights or film on Ja’kobi Albert, any thoughts on whether he ends up as a WR or DB in college?

Hard to say. This isn't a situation where i'd say he is just a really good athlete playing receiver in HS, but it long term a more natural DB. He is a solid and natural receiver from what i've watched. Catches with his hands and has great speed.

Still (to bare repeating) this class has been way under reviewed by recruiting services. Not only have they been hampered with access, the same for the kids without their normal camps, gatherings, and usual water holes. The bamer I normally talk with has been raving about the 3stars Nick's been looking at hard.
