Rough game. Had a shot to bring ourselves back and had a bad offensive foul, missed layup, and an unnecessary tech.

Definitely not going to be a banner year, but hopefully this season results in us putting more of an emphasis on shooters.

Not ready yet. Once competition ramped up a little you could tell he’s not up to speed.

Yeah I think Bruce is gonna have to stop hoping he can turn athletes into shooters and focus on signing 1 or 2 gunners for each roster at any cost

We needed to upgrade at guard. Neither of the freshman were day one ready. Hopefully the light comes on soon because Wendell is very inconsistent for a Jr. When he's off we struggle

I think we may need to go back to Zep playing backup point. Westry is abysmal right now. I guess Bruce is just letting him learn but it’s been bad.

Yeah Westry might be better off catching up to speed from the 2

Zep and Wendell are not SEC caliber guards, unfortunately.

We knew this last year. They have flashes but are inconsistent

Yep. I was hoping they’d improve but they haven’t. You can make an argument for including KD as non SEC caliber too but he will occasionally look like he belongs.

Devan Cambridge is shooting 44% from 3 at Arizona State. Are we just cursed?

Man that seems impossible after watching his stroke last year.

We have no offensive identity at the moment. It’s a really poorly constructed roster with players that don’t fit together. Most of it starts with the three smaller guards which has a ripple effect everywhere else.

We’ll be lucky to go .500 in SEC play.

Totally agree.

I forsee a so-so year and then back at it next year assuming Bruce can hammer down on recruiting some players.

I am happy to see some players leave after this year. Including one that is a footnote, one that actually played decently yesterday, and one that has been frustrating af. Bruce just needs to start over there and stop with the loyalty stuff.

We can’t shoot for shite. And if you can’t shoot it’s hard to beat good teams. We went 25% from 3 last night and we are currently ranked #337 for 3-pt fg% at 28% for the season.

Well said.

Also, we miss Kessler in the paint defensively. It was painful to watch Memphis drive at will and we couldn't buy a layup.

3 pt % would improve if we took better shots. CMoore took good shots off a pass and had a high %. Also we r way too out of control on layups. Not sure if defense isn’t coming over and that’s why we don’t feed to open guy or our positioning but our layup % is horrible.

Wen’s decision to shoot at half court line with a 7’ guarding him was horrendous. And KD needs to pass, move get ball back before his shoot instead of and shoot fake, fake, fake, shoot a long three.

Was out during game and haven't had a chance to watch yet. Certainly would have thought 73 would have done it with our defense. Sounds like they were simply outplayed (possibly outcoached?). Box score showed 7 of 15 turnovers were by Green and Westry, that hurts. Not a terrible loss on paper but maybe how it happened is worse than on paper.

I would like to think they can win 2 of the next 3 and start conference play with 10 wins under their belt. Hopefully they can play .500 or just a tick better in conference play and end up with 20 wins. Getting to the tourney should always be the floor with a Bruce team along with the occasional run to keep things exciting. Maybe I've been around too long but I'm good with a 20 win season and a March appearance for this year and this team. Before Bruce, 20 win seasons were hard to come by. Not to mention, the conference overall is so much better now than years past.

The blueprint was made by Miami- put size on our guards.

Flanagan May have to play point when they do that. At times, he is impressive, but sometimes mistake prone.

Westry May get better over the course of the season. He just had a knee scope 3 weeks ago or so. We need him And Flanagan to handle the ball some when teams try to smother KD and especially WG.

Hopefully Traore will develop as well.

I don't agree with this. I do think that in a perfect world WG is probably a leading man for a bench unit but he's certainly "SEC caliber"

Zep I agree with you on

I wouldn’t say they aren’t SEC caliber, but they can’t be primary scoring options on a really good SEC team. Too small to finish consistently against length and not consistent enough 3 point shooters. You can put KD in that mix too. It can work well with one of those types in your primary guard rotation, but it’s tough with three.
