Even though Chip Lindsey is expected to call the plays and put some wrinkles in our passing game I don't see Gus allowing him to go away from the run. At the end of the day, I still see Auburn as a run first power spread team even with Lindsey as our OC.

That's exactly how it should be... The head coach dictates the overall scheme/philosophy... and the coordinators implement the specifics.

3* RB just committed to Tennessee. Not sure if that affects their recruitment of Barrett or not. KN says staff confident about keeping him. Concern grows if he visit Clemson

Hopefully somebody recruiting this kid has that same conversation.

Ashley tells Maryland he's locked in with AU and shutting it down according to the MD mod who predicted a flip a few weeks ago

So apparently Ashley is no longer enrolled at that school in Maryland. He is taking this whole shut it down thing pretty seriously

KN thinks family is planning to move back to Florida. Would make sense as they would be much closer to Auburn then and would make it easier to see games. As you might expect with all this news today Maryland fans are not taking all this news well... A sample of comments

quote:

Auburn can do $hit that Maryland can't.

quote:

It $ucks but at the $ame time I understand why $omeone would $tick with their commitment. The $taff gave it a good $hot.

quote:

Per sources, Calvin Ashley has told Maryland that he's a giant pussy and will go to his 2nd choice because he didn't have the balls to decommit.

quote:

I won't get into it, but a couple things happened behind the scenes that led to the 180.

That last comment is from the MD mod that has been the one reporting a flip is gonna happen & all of a sudden is refusing to give out info on what he thinks happened after weeks of passing all sorts of info on Ashley

It's hilarious that these people think a guy whose been committed for >1 year to a top 15 program has to be paid to not flip to a cellar dweller

Five star lineman doesn't want to go to a dumpster tier program, instead opting for one that sends OL to the NFL.

Shocking

Auburn sees 5-star LB commit Tadarian Moultry as possible replacement for Carl Lawson at Buck (SECCountry)
quote:

Moultry said his goal was to “make an instant impact” in 2017. And with all that talent at linebacker and a pressing need for pass-rushing help, Auburn wants Moultry to play the hybrid Buck defensive end/outside linebacker role Lawson dominated in 2016.

“I’ll be doing a lot of practicing coming off the edge,” Moultry said. “That plays a big role in college and the NFL.”

Moultry said he knows playing closer to the line of scrimmage in the SEC might mean adding more weight. But as of right now, Auburn’s coaching staff likes the tenacious Moultry the way he is.

“I can play at 240 (pounds) for my size,” Moultry said. “I can still be big but real solid. I can play now at 230, and I’m nothing but muscle. … They didn’t say nothing about my size. They just said, ‘You physical, you straight.'”

The Alabama native said he was “locked and loaded” at Auburn after his official visit, and he won’t take any more between now and National Signing Day.

Moultry solely is focused on getting ready to arrive on the Plains. One of his fellow Class of 2017 linebackers told him over the weekend what that will look like in the form of strength and conditioning.

“(Britt said) workouts are hell, which I figured, and conditioning,” Moultry said. “K.J. was telling me when I get that workout plan to make sure I do it and don’t skip nothing, because by the time you get here, you’re going to go through hell. I know if I’m doing it at my school by the time I get here, it won’t be so hard.”

Moultry signs with Auburn in less than two weeks and plans to spend his spring vacation on the Plains.

Call it early tutoring for a star recruit who will follow in the footsteps of a departing Auburn star.

“I’m ready to sign and get out of high school,” Moultry said. “My boy K.J., he’s here with Chandler (Wooten) and Malcolm (Askew), so they’re learning plays. I’m going to make sure this spring break I’ll be down here so I can learn the plays and workout so I won’t be so far behind.”

if Moultry is half as good as the hype he will make an impact next season. Favorite recruit of this class

I am a simpleton, so don't judge, but should be be taking our 5* MLB and converting him to another position? This rarely works out for us.

If it helps he's been playing that type of spot in all the all star games. He was unstoppable off the edge in the AL/MS All Star Game. He's athletic enough they can play him really anywhere in the LB core. It sounds like they want to get him on the field so this is fastest way to use him next season as a pass rusher

His playing style and ability at this point remind me so much of watching Khalil Mack play. A terror off the edge but could easily be an every down inside LB if we wanted him there.

I much rather have Moultry playing OLB using his speed to close down on screens outside runs and qb scrambles

He has the best closing speed I've seen in a while. Would be a shame to have him tangled up at the LOS every play. Lawson didn't make a play EVER unless they ran right at him

good news. We just offered the #94th ranked Tight End. John Samuel Shenker

Our class seems to be going places! Recruit like champions, play like champions!

Edit: He seems to be a former Auburn baseball commit that wants to play football now.

Doesn't matter. We don't use the TE anyway.

KN reporting AU is going to pass on 3* FB Chase Lasater. The excuses is not a great fit whatever that means. Might be bringing on a preferred walk on instead. Also guessing this corresponds with the TE offer. Lindsey uses more of a TE type guy at the H-Back spot so maybe he doesn't wanna bring in a FB. That's a complete guess on my part but considering he seemed a lock till Lindsey was hired guessing he the reason behind the change

They're saying that Lasater didn't make a good impression personality wise; "not a good fit" = off-field stuff.

There has also been talk that Lindsey prefers TE use to HB/FB use.
