The # we want to take at a position always changes. Swinney wants to come and I don't think we turn him down.
Not always. 2014 class position numbers barely changed at all from when Keith started reporting them last Summer.

I'm sorry, since I know you are just handing off info. as a favor, but no way is that true. He might be #1 due to versatility, hence offering a chance at the position and seeing where it leads, but there is zero chance he's the top guy for RB.
Like you said I just hand the info off, from Keith at AUC so people can TIFWIW. No I am not being snootty in case anyone may think so. Just clarifying what you meant for other who may not have completely understood that part of your post.

I always trend towards the guy that really want the offer and want to be a part of the team. I think if the coaches do give him a committable offer he accepts and if Jovon later decides to come to Auburn we end up with 3 RB's
Current indications are Jovon will commit somewhree a ways before Swinney FWIW.

Make no mistake about it. I am definitely on the side of wanting 3 RBs if 1 of them is Jovon. He may be 1 and done and we still don't know if Pettway will qualify. We may need more than KJ, Roc, and Barber for depth purposes alone.

I'm not sure why everyone is shitting on Johnson as a RB. Sure, he could be a badass safety, but he's a badass RB regardless. It has been said for months that he's the top RB on our coaches board, so obviously they think he can succeed there. It's not like he's an average RB, he's a better HS back than Barber, CAP, and Mason were in my opinion and is definitely way more versatile.

All I'm saying is if a coach who has had more 1000 yard rushers than college seasons coached thinks Johnson is the top HS back, I think he has some potential at that position

JC Shurbutt posted this on the 247 board.

Auburn may not be done: Auburn picked up a huge commitment on Tuesday from No. 2 overall Alabama prospect Kerryon Johnson of Madison (Ala.) Academy, but I am told that this may just be the start of a run of commitments for the Tigers through the weekend and that Auburn could add as many as three additional commitments. Obviously, there are a slew of big-time targets on campus for the spring game, so stay tuned. As big as Johnson's pledge was, things could be even better by the start of next week.
I can fap to this.

FWIW, regarding Kerryon Johnson, he is a complete luxury in my eyes. We can put him either at running back or safety. Personally, I would rather have him at safety, where he could be a game changer. We have running backs that are talented, and young to boot. I think safety is more of a position of need with Brandon King being a senior, Derrick Moncrief being a junior, and Jermaine Whitehead being a senior.

Does anyone see a commitment from Jovon Robinson this weekend?

Well, the visit to Louisville is out of respect to Todd Grantham's relationship with GMC, and he's supposed to commit sometime in May. Auburn's A-Day is close to the end of April. And with the report of Jovon Robinson not having a great visit to Alabama over the weekend...

I don't know, seems like there's a chance to me.

Not sure anyone is crapping all over him really, he's just not a guy who makes me go wow at RB. I could see him being a solid RB in Gus's offense, but I just can't see him starting over Roc or Barber, and definitely not Jovon if we manage to grab him.

So in the most likely scenario he'd be mainly a depth player at RB for the majority of his career in that case. That is just not something that gets me too excited.

Now if he could become a badass safety as you put it, I'd be pretty stoked as that is a huge need.

I like how his first instinct is to run north and south, but he also has a sick juke, a nice spin move and can reverse the field if needed. Also can split out wide and go up for the ball...

I agree. Great catch for us. He is a football player and we can certainly find a spot for a guy with his kind of talent.

Bama fans on the recruiting board were claiming he was visiting both schools but going to Bama's game. Guess we will have to see which one he shows up at.

That was Damien Harris. Jovon will be in Auburn this weekend.
