Nino is right, JFranklin missing severely cripples them. Maut or whatever looked awful.

Just because Mizzou is better than expected doesn't mean Georgia didn't get abused on defense. Shaq Wiggins looked atrocious out there in the second half.

Without Gurley and Marshall their run game had a lot to be desired.

Their OLine had Murray running for his life. Murray for that matter looked pedastrian which makes you want to believe that while he is good, he is more a symptom of a lot of Georgia talent surrounding him

It is impossible to be more wrong than your are here. If you aren't seeing an elite WR when watching him, you just suck at evaluating football players....no offense

He's a bona-fide vertical threat that will make a QB look great with his ability to adjust to the ball.

That said, I'm not huge on his effort on plays that don't involve him getting the ball. That's a biggie for me. I still really want him though and would be a huge get.

Lack of effort is easy to change. Lack of talent isn't. I think Williams could be a great one. Could be a bust, but he has some of the best physical tools around.

Hmm, no Shaun Dion Hamilton... Why does he even keep visiting then? And likewise, why do we keep letting him visit? Seems like he might try to recruit against us, if he hasn't already.

Who would he have been recruiting? We didn't have many guys there, and no one that bama is going hard after, I don't think. Thornton maybe?

Alabama still wants Tre' Williams, for sure.

Other than that, I have no clue...

He probably came this week to see JJ start.

I doubt this staff would keep inviting him back if he was actively recruiting against us.

I wouldn't be surprised if we are still recruiting him just not butthurt if he doesn't choose us. I do know that he is not actively recruiting people to bama on his trips down to Auburn. He is extremely low key while there

How's this Burton kid? Should I be excited over a 3* WR?

Yes you should be excited. (He is also an Auburn legacy). Burton also had offers on the table from Wisconsin, Clemson, Tennessee and others.

His 6'2", 200-plus pound frame makes him an excellent weapon in Malzahn's offense. He uses his size well to high-point the football and make difficult catches in traffic. He doesn't have terrific speed, but moves well for his size and will develop into a solid red-zone target. However, he will need to improve his route-running to become a No. 1 option in the SEC.

As for other possibilities, Burton could play safety, a position that has haunted Auburn as of late. His size and physical style of play could make him an intriguing prospect on that side of the ball if offense doesn't work out for the young ma

As far as 3* WRs, Sammie Coates is essentially leading the country in YPC and looking pretty solid for us even if he needs more refinement this coming offseason. So yes there is a possibility that a 3* turns out well

Here is from 247's quick analysis

quote:

I can say that the first thing that stands out bout Burton is his impressive size. Pushing 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Burton has the prototypical frame for the receiver position and runs well for his size. In one-on-one situations, Burton positions his body well when the ball is in the air and has good hands. His route running skills are solid at this stage and given his work ethic, should improve at the next level. Given his size, Burton presents a solid third down and redzone option for Auburn and could develop into a consistent downfield option if he continues to work on his quickness off the line, which will allow him to create more separation.

quote:

Burton is a big-bodied, possession wide receiver that shows great ability catching the football. He is a wide receiver that moves the sticks and isn’t afraid to jump up for overthrown passes. I also like how Burton looks for the end zone right after the catch. On a tunnel screen to the left side of the field, Burton catches the ball and immediately finds his blockers. He doesn’t stutter-step or dance around; he heads directly down field after the catch. Those type of plays are what makes the difference between a 3rd-and-1 and a first down.

Burton has plenty of speed. He isn't a 4.4 guy but his route running, while not perfect is well above average at this stage. He also bursts through/across the line, waiting for the second level before trying to make extra moves/juke. Kid is a Football Player.

We are also watching Darius Slayton -3* 2015 WR/DB from Greater Atlanta Christian School. Will likely move up IMO. Kid won State in GAHSAA 2-A 100M and 200M last year as a SO! We are looking at him at CB mostly but he is a burner! Also a legacy as his Uncle played LB in the early 90's, Darrell Rodgers(? maybe, not positive on his name. This is my Alma Matter and I have family on staff there.

I have the bag already! Just waiting on Coach Smith for the heads up!

any particular reason why?... it's better now that they play it right after the high school season rather than waiting until after the school year is over... gives guys more time to heal from injuries.

The kids all seem to enjoy it, and it's a good opportunity for some lesser known guys to get some publicity.
