Speaking of Prosch, are we going to ever take a true FB under Malzahn? Doesn't seem like we're after any this year. Not sure about the '15 class. Will we be a one and done with a FB under Malzahn?

TE's can essentially be used as FBs in the spread. Also, FBs usually aren't offered scholarships, they're usually walk-on's

Assuming uzomah is in at TE we have Parks and Fulse to play Hback. Fulse is an excellent blocker

In general yes, but in Malzahn's spread not so much. Gus used Eric Smith as a Fullback. Then when he left, Gus wasted Lutz a the lead blocker because he had no one else.

We can use Fulse once Jay graduates. He's not much of a pass-catcher anyway. And we have 2 TEs committed right now (Mitchell and Laye) so it looks like Mitchell will be the versatile pass-catcher, while Laye is the lead blocker

You mean the same year where Lutz had 7 TD catches with Moseley and Trotter throwing to him?

I don't agree with Brannigan but I would like to point out that it wasn't like there was anyone else in that offense who could catch td passes besides him and Blake. Sort of means he caught them by defualt. He only had 24 receptions for 250 yards. Not stats to call home to mama Lutzie about and by no means his own fualt

He could've had a lot more. I would say Lutz was the lead blocker on 75-80% of run plays that year. Defenses looked where Lutz was going every play just for that reason. I wouldn't say he was wasted as a lead blocker because he was damn good at it but its not everyday you have a pass catching TE like him. It sucks we couldn't use him more in the passing game.
