The Jags clearly had the #1 opening for both GM and HC before the Khan reports came out. That was insanely stupid.

I do think Blank meddles too much and his "Falcons for life" comments have royally fricked this team in contract negotiations by taking away all leverage. You have to be a moron not to see that.

He was also behind overpaying two shitty guards (Brown and Carpenter) and then spending two first round picks on offensive linemen in the same offseason.

As for your other post, Haslam is the worst owner in sports and there isn't a close second.

There is a difference between being involved and meddling. Is Arthur too involved at times? Absolutely. Does he meddle to the point of personnel control? No.

I do think Arthur does it w/the best intentions, but he does need to simmer down a bit. But to say he meddles is irresponsible IMO.

But Yahoo Sports is the equivalent of Weekly World News. They don't know jack shite.

The Dolans who own the Knicks might actually be worse than Haslam but it's close.

You still didn't answer my question about whether those 4 owners are more meddlesome than Arthur.

Blank isn't the worst owner with meddling but he isn't the best either. When non football people make football decisions, it doesn't go well.

Snyder is really bad because he forced his front office to draft Haskins. Jerruh's problems are well documented.

Word out of Charlotte is that Joe Brady is close to being the next Falcons HC. He would bring Fontenot w/him as GM. Here's the story on Fontenot from Schefter:

Besides the Saints getting a few extra draft picks, I'd be very happy with that.

They'd get the Falcons 3rd rounder.

I'd be happy w/that, also. And you hurt two of your divisional rivals in the process.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the job is his if he wants it.

Same. Hire the best offensive guru out there and make the most of Matt R and the rest for the next couple years.

True, but I'm more interested in getting the next QB getting backup reps under him.

I do think it would be a mistake to pass up our chance at our future quarterback with this pick.

However, if they hire an offensive-minded person, they are likely taking the job with the idea that Matt Ryan can get it done and will pick defense.

I agree. Matt Ryan is still a good QB, but given his age and where this franchise is, now is the time. Fortunately, we don't pick this high very often. Take advantage of it now.

Also, I just saw a report that Koetter is heading back to Boise State. Good riddance.

Pretty sure the picks are compensatory so it wouldn't be the Birdz 3rd rounder. That would inherently disincentivize people from hiring the minority coaches/gm's, which is clearly the opposite of what they're going for with this rule.

So for the people that want Bieniemy...surely Pederson is a big upgrade over that right?
