could get on board the Gus Bus if he brings Kevin Steele and that nasty defense to Arkansas.

This is probably unlikely to happen, esp if next AU coach wants to retain Steele.

Steele has a lot of ties to Auburn (e.g bro works there) and from what I understand he prefers to coach as DC at AU until he hits AL state retirement

I don't think HC gigs would pull him away unless it was a really great situation

I saw that dumb list somewhere that showed Patterson as an option. If that were real then you pay what it takes to get him. If Gundy was an option then you throw the cash at him as well. Both of them would restore our recruiting ties in Texas and we have to get that back to start winning.

I'm no fan of Gus so I hope we pass, but if we hire him then I'm 100% certain then we will be better the next 5 years then we have been for the last 6. Especially if Steele comes with him.

Campbell is a great up and coming coach, but I just can't picture him coming to Arkansas. I would take him though.

Norvell coming to Arkansas needs to happen, but maybe not for another 6 or 7 years. He needs more experience, IMO, to coach in the SEC.

Not interested in Kiffin at all.

I see the program being no better than with Bert. Sure he will inherit more talent than Bert, buy 8 wins will be his ceiling here.

Steele looked like shite at LSU, he is benefiting tremendously from what Boom left behind there.

I remember the argument being Jimmy Johnson needed a little more experience when Hatfield was chosen over him...

He wasn't ever in will never get a HC offer after what he did at Baylor.

Iron Bowl Loss Yes, Iron Bowl victory and its Norvel.

The powers that be want men who know and love Arkansas and that’s what we will get.

Gus should be 8-9W maybe 10 coach at Arkansas. His unique offense, decent recruiting and ability should get him there but unlikely better than 10W

3-4W- OOC Wins
2W- MS Schools
1W- Cross Div
1-3W- from CrossDiv, LSU, TAMU, Aub, Bowl Win

Steele benefited most from attitude + some great recruiting pickups from Muschamp.

Steele still deserves a shite ton of credit. He inherited a good thing from Muschamp but he elevated well above w consecutive yrs improvement

I agree with you. He beat Oklahoma and TCU this season. It's still Iowa State. Hell, wasn't Campbell the coach at Toledo that Berthold lost to? Dude's a great coach.

It would be like Bert beating Bama and Auburn only to lose to Ms. State and LSU in a season.

When you are good enough to beat the two best teams in the league you shouldn't find yourself as the 5th best to end the season, no matter where you are or what conference you are in.

I would imagine it is Gus, especially with some info I received recently... If he doesn't win the IB... If he does, wont happen.

I really don't want gus. Not because of anything off the field. I just think we can get someone better.

I don't think it will be Gus in the end.

I also refuse to melt until a name is announced, and a 24 HR grace period has passed so we don't get Altmanned

If it is Gus, it will take me some time to conform. I will have this sick in the stomach feeling... Just empty inside type of pain.

I will never forget the only real joy from CBB's I think first season, when Auburn lost in the final minutes in the championship game. AM I right about that?

I was jumping up and down, laughing, loving every minute of it Loverboy Style.

I was expecting a huge hire like Patterson or Gundy 5 years ago. Then Long announced Bert. I had the same feeling of disappointment when JLS was named interim coach. I'll have the same feeling if we hire Gus even though I'm certain Gus would give us more success than Bert.

If we hire Gus and he starts winning then I can learn to live with him.

I'm still hearing it's not happening with Gus because of his contract demands more than anything. We're willing to pay a large buyout (not necessarily for Gus, just in general) but not willing to lock ourselves down with a massive long-term contract that he's demanding. He's wanting Saban money for 6-8 years GUARANTEED written in. He thinks he holds all the cards and can name his price...

Boy he sure does looooove Arkansas and wants to come home
