He and Sexton probably think they have all the leverage in the world right now as it pertains to our job, and they're right....for now.

If Gus loses the Iron Bown, that leverage is somewhat gone. Given his current situation at Auburn and the fact that they were ready to run him out of town a few short weeks ago, there's an enormous difference in 9-3 with yet another loss to Bama and 10-2 and a presumed SEC Championship.

It just depends on how pitifully desperate our GOBN is and how intent they are on getting Gus. If he wins Saturday, he holds all of the cards and we should simply walk away. I'm not a Malzahnista but I would like him to be our next coach, but I don't want us giving him a blank check, a decade contract, and a rubber stamp on the AD decision. That would be incredibly stupid.

Like I said in another thread, regardless of where you sit in terms of whether you're for hiring Malzahn or not, Auburn winning on Saturday would be the worst possible outcome for us if our GOBN are as intent on hiring Gus as they're believed to be.

You are talking a lot about a situation you don't know.

As long as Malzahn doesn' tlay a complete egg vs Bama, he is incredible safe

You underestimate how big a deal spanking UGA like that was for AU.

Have to agree with you here. I didn’t understand it until I moved to Atlanta and was constantly around Georgia and Auburn fans. You guys hate each other. Plain and simple.

In particular, over the 11 previous years, Auburn lost the series lead after going 3-9 and haven't won in Athens since 2005.

Under Malzahn we were coming off a 3 game losing streak

2014: #9 AU 7 - 34 UGA #16
2015: AU 13 - 20 UGA *** UGA won on Punt return TD
2016: #8 AU 7 - 13 UGA *** UGA pick 6 from inj QB

Might want to reread my post. I was talking about contract leverage against both us and Auburn, not whether or not he'd be fired.
