Why isn’t there a Week 1 discussion thread?

Because we really don’t know anything at this point other than we beat a team that we were supposed to beat and didn’t do a Jack Crowe.

The schedule Gods have aligned to produce the most *Arkansas* result of all Arkansas time

We lose inexplicably to either stAte or Memphis in a game we play sloppy but still should've won, while dominating the other one. Ole Miss takes us to the woodshed, but we look like a top 10 team in a mind bottling win against Notre Dame

The most Arkansas thing to ever Arkansas

Idk. I think we do.

Offense looks decent. Passing game looks improved but the run game does not. The RBs vision was suspect. Not sold on run blocking either.

Defensively we look bad.

Special teams were a bright spot

I think we all know enough with Pittman we will lose one or two we shouldn’t and win one we shouldn’t. If we beat Memphis and A-State without stumbling, fast track us to the Liberty bowl lol

Won't happen 3 years in a row. It was a Shock to do 2...

But, I'd take it. I have a huge IN with the Liberty folks. Treated very well. Went to Dave and Busters with the team, had dinner with some of them later. talked to the coaches at length at the presidents gala, etc. Fun for the family!

We're not abysmal, we're still probably going 6-6 at best. Defense is in trouble, offensive line is also highly suspect.

Not really much to discuss IMO. Need better competition to really answer questions. Ar St. will tell us if we are in trouble on D. OM will let us know if we have a chance to be good.

Offensive line looked troublingly small in comparison to their fat SWAC boys. The Hawg defensive line looked noticeably smaller and slower off the ball than they should have. The receivers are midgets albeit athletic as a group.

Other than the first two drives on defense, the team played well - I suppose. I don't think Arkansas is poorly coached on either side of the ball.

I'm just disappointed that it appears to be another year where we could have an outstanding season, if they had bought the necessary defensive lineman out of the portal. In the day and age of literally purchasing players, how can this be a common theme?

What I discovered on this site in the offseason is that 6-6 is viewed as "abysmal".

I am still just happy to win games going away, because the Morris years are still not long enough away in the rear-view mirror.

It's not great. It's not terrible. It's just who we are as a team. We quit embarrassing ourselves every game. Now we drop 1 we shouldn't but win 1 we shouldn't to offset. And then play up and down to our opponents for the rest

chaggy years sucked but it was only 2 seasons. Sam is going on his 6th season as HC. He’s the longest tenured head coach since Houston nutt. I get that going 2-10 back to back really sucked but some of yall need to move on. Seems like you’ve got PTSD

And some are more levelheaded and do their research instead of falling at the feet of an career Texass HS coach.

Week 1. My thoughts.
Offense was much improved. Taylen was impressive, receivers were very impressive but yes, it was a SWAC school. SEC receivers should run free a lot against zero coverage and inferior opponents.
RB's had some good runs but clearly the game plan was to throw the ball early and often. Washington gives me C4 vibes. Russell looks to be in better shape this year and I can see them being a viable tandem. Jackson looks to be a legit backup should we need him.

Defense, concerned about run fits. Twill's M.O. has been aggressive schemes and that sometimes means his guys over-run their gaps... when we are already undersized, that could be a glaring problem. I think the secondary could be the strength of the defense but if we can't create a pass rush it won't be noticable.
LB's don't look bad but I don't understand why we always seem to find the guys that are 20lbs smaller than everyone else's dudes.

We do have a kicker. Impressed with the freshman.

Not going to get too high or too low over one game. Anxious to see how we play against AState. If we handle business against them then I'll feel better...... a squeaker or a loss and .... well.... you know what that will bring.
I hope Sam's gloom and doom about LR won't bleed over to the team.
We need to blow them out to the tune of about 56-14 and start the ball rolling.
Unfortunately I see it being more like 38-24 or something.
