Why get on with Bert again after seeing how useless fat and drunk he is?

I think he cleaned up in New England. He looks like she lost quite a bit of weight and no longer has that greasy alcoholic look about him.

Maybe the Belicheck/Saban coaching rehab is better than Betty Ford, if they got both Bert and Sarkisian to clean up.

So has this just turned into our off season football thread?

Looks like it.

I think we should all buy the OP a drink for having the foresight to start the transfer portal watch thread

Back on transfers...

Greg Brooks now has 2 Crystal Balls to LSU, surprise surprise.

Hogs offered a transfer safety from University of Memphis.
Jason Watkins. 6-4, 193.
Played QB and WR in high school, moved to safety at Memphis. Just entered portal Saturday and Hogs offered today.

Maybe he’ll be an upgrade or at least same level as brooks or foucha. Crazy that these dudes would play 4 years at Arkansas get snubbed by lsu, beat lsu and then as soon as they come calling drop on a dime to play for them. Just shows how loyal the kids from Louisiana are

Numbers game. Arkansas needed upgrades and LSU needed warm bodies. Both got evaluated and processed.

You putting a lot of pressure on Pittman and Odom to upgrade in that case

They were going to lose starting positions from the younger players anyway. They were probably told by Sam that they weren't guaranteed as starters next year and they got mad a bout it and hit the portal.

Most of the players are the ones from his first class that haven't seen the field in two years and other mediocre players from the previous staff.

Genuinely curious to know who you think would push them. Johnson is about the only young DB I see who could.

Let's hope that these backups were so good that we didn't play them much but they are going to take the starters spots next year. Seems plausible.

His assertion is absurd but I think Slusher could take one of their spots with Catalon returning.

Yeah, the walk-on FS named Blair who was consistently out of position and led to a lot of blown coverages.

We play three safeties. Safety would have likely been the same with Cat sliding into Blair’s spot.

We could see a group of Slush, Cat, and Johnson but that still leaves a hole at Brook’s nickel position.

So you want Sam to hold on these players that weren't any good? Do you like blown coverages and big plays given up? If Arkansas wants a better defense and ever be a contender in the SEC then they need to upgrade. Most of these players that transferred were on defense and were not going to make the defense any better.

Yeah.....if LSU offers an LSU kid then they are going to LSU. Wish we had that type of loyalty in Arkansas

Bold move of Sam to send a 3 year starter packing in order to improve. I think most would build on that experience and focus on improving elsewhere

If it was an unexpected transfer for them then would you think Odom and Pittman would have put the effort in letting them stay? He did for other players like St. John but why couldn't these two? Maybe they just weren't good enough for the trouble?

Just because they are a three starter doesn't mean they are any good and deserve to be the starter next year no matter what. I think Sam wants Arkansas to be a contender and just being an experienced player doesn't mean they get to hold onto that spot. If a coach can find better players then the current ones will be replaced.

So where are all these better players we've got locked up. I see more of the same at best
