Just out of curiosity, who do people want as a coach here?

I almost think that Arkansas was the most winning program in the 90's.

Frank Martin just for starters

It wasn't intended that way. Cubs fans are some of the best fans in MLB. I'm a Cards fan, but even I thought it was cool for Cubs fans to break that drought.
Hopefully our BB drought will end too.

I would be interested to see 3pt% vs all D1 teams compared to ours over the span of Mike's tenure.

You want a coach that loses to Mike Anderson?

I think it’s the Final Four run that has everyone excited.
He rode Michael Beasley and Bill Walker’s coattails to the KSU job and managed to actually be okay there for a while. I can’t argue with USCe’s performance last year, but if we are looking to average at least a second round appearance every year, I don’t think he’s that guy.

I would much rather have Marshall. If we can't throw down more than 3.3 a year for a coach, our "Arkansas money" schtick is a fraud. fricking Alabama pays their basketball coach more than we do right now. Bruce Pearl took one of the historically worst basketball programs in the conference and turned them into a top 10 team in four years. I'm tired of excuses. It's year 7 with "the best roster he's had at Arkansas". Repeated blowouts should not be a thing at this point. A good coach would be humming here by now.

In all seriousness, I like Mike Anderson, and I don’t think it’s time for a change, but the performance this season has been a bit disappointing. For a team that’s supposed to thrive on energy, defense, and feeding off of turnovers, they can’t seem to keep the intensity up for 40 mins.
The one thing that I find puzzling is this:
Anderson’s record at UAB: 68.5% win percentage with a Sweet 16.
Anderson’s record at Mizzou: 66.1% win percentage with an Elite 8.
Anderson’s win percentage at Arkansas: 64.6% win percentage with only a second round appearance.
What was different about UAB and Mizzou tenure?

But each time we take the floor and look like the same lost, confused, sloppy team we've been the past two months, I lose that much more patience with him. If we were competitive in these losses and looked like a competent team, I'd still be in the "wait it out" camp. But we aren't and don't. We are god awful from the line, our offense is and has been abysmal, and we can't defend either the perimeter or the paint. If we don't play a team with average to below average ball handlers, we get blasted. This outcome has become consistent enough to be a problem. It's clockwork at this point. I fully expect for Waters to once again pick us apart when we go to LSU.

We’ve been consistently inconsistent for seven years.
Play shite defense routinely. Every game we face a player in a slump or team that hasn’t shot well all year or for a stretch of games and they go off on us. Every time.
Perimeter defense is deplorable. Automatic switches that other coaches scheme and prepare for are easy to exploit leads to valuable fouls 30+ feet from the hoop.
Offense we are supposedly running a motion offense without much moving. Take a bunch of tough shots which leads to droughts.
Lack coaching and IQ to get our good players touches and a certain number of shots. Also limit people who shouldn’t be shooting ten plus times.
Shooting overall is abysmal outside of a couple. Suppose this is what you get when basketball turns into an athlete over skill game and the coaches only strategy is trying to play so fast that we tire out the opposition. Not a lot of teaching but we have a new basketball practice facility finally!

My question is rather what was the difference between Anderson’s tenure at Mizzou and UAB vs now. I genuinely don’t know, but it’s clear that something is different here.

How many people think MA's system (or lack thereof) will ever bring us an SEC or National Championship?
Is that still the hope?
Maybe there are just a lot of Mike fans that got tired of trying.
