The Jerry World game probably cost Arkansas a College Gameday stop in Fayetteville

Notre Dame sucks right now and that game is in Chicago, which is a much better setting than the bland parking lot at Jerry World, but not nearly as good as the atmosphere would be if the A&M game were IN Fayetteville this weekend.
How and why the Arkansas Ath Dept didn't get a home and home with Aggy after playing Kyle Field last year is beyond me.

If it is beyond you Jack, then you don't quite understand contract law, etc.
Just a few more years man!

If I'm not mistaken, Aggy is party to the contract as well, no?
The contract probably didn't say anything about a virus, either, yet technically that contract was broken last year, which means they could break it again this year as a make good.
If not... Then buy out the contract.
No one wants that game there anymore. And while they're at it, buy out that dumbass War Memorial contract as well.

I 100% think they went to Chicago because they plan to be at A&M-Bama in two weeks. Hopefully we crush that dream and they have to come to Athena next week instead.

Isn't Fox doing its Big Noon show in Chicago as well next week?
That will be interesting.

Gosh I don't know if we need the extra GameDay pressure on that road game. Jesus that would be wild in Athens.

You’re an idiot if you think they’d choose us over ND and Wisco even if it were in Fay.
You guys been asleep for 5 years? We are the worst team in the entire conference since expansion. Worse than VANDY. We had 40-50k in the stands yesterday as a 3-0 team.

Much less once we were actually a 3-0 team. I was told that NWA was just waiting on us to have a good team to pack the stadium out. What gives?

People are poor, games are expensive and are a lot of work. This isn't a NWA thing but a pathetic football program that didn't give a damn these last 10 years.
Arkansas and Jeff Long didn't care after the bert lost to Missouri and Virginia Tech. Bert wasn't fired like he needed to be and people lost faith. Then they botched the hiring process by getting a coach that not only wasn't qualified but is the worst coach since the early 50s.
Those dumbshits RUINED Arkansas football to the point that Arkansas had to settle for an offensive line coach that had almost zero head coaching experience.
I don't blame any fan that had season tickets for decades only for the school to mail them a letter full of shite as appreciation for horrible football. Hog fans for 30 years are tired of the lame excuses, spending no telling how much money on the weekends. As a reward for such fan dedication? Spit to the face with a loss to big bad Toledo, Western Kentucky. People are just tired of it and some will not return ever to a game again as they know disappointment is expected.
Hog fans are loyal and dedicated. No bandwagon fans like schools such as Bama. But 30 years in the SEC has proven that the university can't match the loyalty or care of hog fans.

Christ almighty. One week ago our environment was the envy of college football

40K in our stadium would have looked way less full. What was the announced attendance? Because I always see these people talking about our shitty turnout for shitty teams with these made-up numbers that don't match what the TV is literally showing me.
The school's 66,311 looks WAY closer to reality than this horseshite 40-50k, 'we can never be happy with anything' mantra.

I’m not unhappy about the attendance.
My point is the state of the program is what it is.
And expecting national pundits to give more than a single shite about our program right now is classic Hog fan delusion.

The same people who bring up the crowd size as 40-50K are the same people that never go to the games.
Only games they will attend are the perceived "big" ones on the schedule, certainly not week in and week out but yet they still complain about attendance as they will about the UAPB game.

Yep. My row in the SEZ is completely empty most weeks and it was magically completely full against Texas. Right back to the status quo yesterday though.
I’m not going to complain to much though because I like the space.

We kept our tix, all 10 of them. Even though we likely won't go to a single game this season with Covid/work. A couple members of my family has an immune diseases.
I honestly almost gave them up. Have sold them at a loss for the season thus far, just to keep them... or given a few away.
Looking forward to this covid mess being done and hopefully easier times. I really, really miss it!

It takes a long time to wipe away 30 years of bad football.

I gave mine up after the Missouri and Virginia Tech games. When Jeff Long didn't care then why should I? That was the kind of treatment that hog fans were getting from that clown. I didn't want to blow my money if the school didn't care a bout getting better. That fatass should have been fired but he gave up and collected his check after the 2017 season.
Long finally hit the road and I was hoping to get season tickets depending on the hire. But nope they hired an idiot dumber than Nutt. I still went to the games but I was hoping that Chad would prove his critics wrong. After the loss to Colorado State, I lost confidence fast and when the year was over I gave up. I had no hope that Arkansas could ever be good in football as we have such clowns making one bad decision after another.
Now with Sam Pittman, he brings hope that we haven't had since Petrino.

quote:I also think people are misremembering what games against cupcakes looked like. I went to a Tennessee Tech game during the Petrino years and last week had pretty much the exact same turnout and atmosphere. Early season tuneup games have never been packed.

Spurrier said yesterday morning that The Swamp was going to have its first sure enough sellout in 3 seasons against Alabama. Yes, the stadium holds 90K to our 76K-ish,, but it's still all relative. I'd bet very few stadiums truly sellout now except for huge games.
I think Penn State even had large patches open in the upper last night against Auburn.
If 65K showed up to watch Georgia Southern, that's nothing to be ashamed about.
