It's because initial reaction was/is Hunter made the worst hire in the cycle for the second time in a row for him and third time in a row for the program.

Time will tell, but you have media ranking Silverfield last behind Stein and Golding. Stanford is the only P4 program to make a worst hire than Hunter so for this cycle according to them.

This is why they were protesting, Hunter hired the one guy glossed over for 60 days as being an unserious candidate and the same guy least wanted by the majority of the fanbase with names reportedly available.

This works if you are the smartest guy in the room, Hunter is rarely in a room by himself for this to be true.

It's funny because if you give us as a fanbase a week, we will get excited about literally any hire.

Even J.L. Smith got a little hype... decades of coaching experience, thought of as a great special teams coach, it was going to be business as usual with Paul Petrino running the offense.

Problem is, the first time we're sitting at 0-3 in conference play, people will remember their initial reaction to hearing Silverfield was hired. He's going to have a short leash with the fanbase.

I dont care for Hunter, but possibly the only people worse at coach hiring decisions than him would be listening to our fans. This isn't a democracy, fans dont have a vote. Which is fine since they know next to nothing about how the sport actually works

After watching it, everything I thought was true. He hired the first person he interviewed. The first person who reached out to him. Also what I believed, people didn’t trust Sam, so they never fully gave to the NIL.

Literally hired the very best coach who would come here.

Yes, Golesh was the first choice. He picked Auburn. Silverfield isn’t horrible and opinions on coach rankings are just that. Opinions. Put a given coach in a given situation and you’ll get different results.

Freeze did fine at ole Miss until he ahot himself in the foot…he sucked from the get go at Auburn. Golesh likely gets tired of their crap and jumps to LSU after the inevitable happens there.

We have to, otherwise, what's the point of being a fan? Resigning yourself to continual 10 loss seasons?

Hope is what we live for.

Well Campbell just got hired at Penn state so seems he was indeed ready to leave Iowa state and he’s a better coach. But maybe we really didn’t go after him. That would fit hunters M.O.

We 100% talked to him, and I did say he was ready to leave. Penn St is a terrific fit for him.

Dipshits didn’t deserve him. Fire a good coach, whiff at a bunch of average joes that would have probably floundered (rhule) and wind up getting the best coach of the cycle. Such bullshite

For sure. I don't fault anybody for getting excited. Just an observation.

The board did the exact same thing for Morris. Everyone rightfully freaked out over the initial announcement and within a couple of recruit signings people were rationalizing themselves into thinking we were going to be Clemson.

I see no reason to raise my expectations past what I had with Sam this last season, very low. Until proven otherwise Razorback football will be on in the background but I probably won't be paying that much attention to it.

Because there aren't any. There's a reason Silverfield was only a name in our search and it's not because Hunter is an elite talent at identifying undervalued coaches.

Think I read where Silverfield said he turned down UCLA and Oklahoma State FWIW

I was never excited about Pittman, and I was always vehemently and belligerently against Morris. I did, however, get very excited about Bielema.

Silverfield left me very… whelmed. I don't dislike the hire, he's better than the initial glance and I thought that from the start. He's not a complete unknown or a known loser. That's a good first step. He deserves more of a chance and more support than anyone we've had since Bielema.

I just can't do it anymore and without the rose colored goggles on, it looks like we are doing G5 things with an SEC schedule.

If he doesn't pull a top 10 portal class we don't have the talent to have a winning season. We looked better than we were last year because we didn't give up when other teams got a lead and let off the gas.

I don't want to believe. I want to win.
