I had to look Venables up I knew so little about him. K State guy from Kansas 46 years old. Coached thru the ranks at KS coached for Stoops after that, under Dabo since. He has coached under some damn good coaches.

he's been a rumored HC candidate for years now. since he was working under stoops.

he's a good defensive coordinator but he's never been a head guy. he's worked under great head guys though.

I was mainly judt laughing st OU Ar comparison. they're a much better program with far stronger Texas recruiting ties than us.

I am just of the belief that we have many more Offensive recruits in the Arkansas main recruiting areas, RB's WR's, QB's.. etc than we do good D recruits.

I am also of the opinion that we cant out bama.. bama... We would have a better opportunity to win games with a strong offensive presence. Venables doesn't bring that to the table. Or so I believe...

Also are we gonna wait for Venables? I don't see him leaving Clemson before the playoffs.

Surely he has knows that an up tempo spread attack can coexist with a nasty D.. Hell his own Team is based on this and so is Auburn...who runs almost the exact same offense....he can't be stubborn enough to try to run a pro style O... I would also assume this would be a deal breaker if he has or is indeed interviewing. The administration and GOBN might be mocked, but they aren't dumb enough to try to stick with the same type of offense we've had.

I assume rule #1 is a high flying offense... Otherwise.. You don't even get an interview.

Venables has been in situations at OU and Clemson where the advantage of a strong spread offense is pretty clear, so I doubt he would want to go any other way...but you never know. I agree that our best bet would be Norvell, offensive oriented coach that knows how to make a machine work with less than perfect parts and knows our basic recruiting territory very well.

I think Venables is probably a better recruiter, but he is a pretty big unknown in a lot of other ways.

With the uncertainty around Venables as a HC and apparent red flags other threads are saying about Norvell's supposed gambling problems (just repeating what I read, no idea if true) then all signs would seemingly point to Kiffin as the hire... Even with his immaturity. Regardless, Seems our top 3 now is clearly Norvell, Lane and Venables..... And 2 of them would never have been hired by Long....Just another perk of him being gone.

Those 3 guys are really the only ones that meet the announced requirements as new HC

I want 2 of them... and would have to grow towards the other.

All of them are better than Schiano...

Kiffen tweeted earlier than Tenner should hire Cutcliffe as HC, T Martin as DC and Chavis as DC....

Would be much better than anyone they have considered thus far..

You need to chill. Mullen to UF doesn't exactly effect anybody we're after. We're certainly not in the same market as Miss St

I want Norvell, but I wouldn't flip if we hired Venables or Kiffin.
