Smokescreens left with Jeff.

GOBN doesn’t have time for smokescreens.

Why in the world would anyone not want a guy who's defense has played for six national titles?

Also, I tried telling y'all more than a month ago that Venables may get the job. So you guys can take all your high falutin' sources or whatever and keep spinning folks like Malzahn but anyone with any sense knows Malzahn was never, and is never, going to be the coach here.

Be pissed about it if you want, but this has been common knowledge since Malzahn left 10 years ago.

He is a top 25 recruiter with extensive experience recruiting players to Oklahoma. Which, by the way, is nearly identical to Arkansas in every measurable way.

He is a near perfect candidate for this job.

I personally won't be disappointed if he's not.

However, I think (unless the PTB would never consider him) that he would at least consider it for the factors that 1. It is home, or was. 2. If the wife really does want to come back, he'd have to at least consider it.

I do think this - if he ever has/had any designs on coaching at Arkansas, it's now or most likely never.

as I posted yesterday.... if it happens..., it has been in the works since Friday.
I say If for a reason, he is considering other options as well.
