When the going gets tough, the trendy thing to do is opt out.

Do we now say high school opt outs

If I'm an NFL scout I would move any player that opted out way down on my board, unless they had a very good reason for doing so.

I doubt he’s on anyone’s board. He’d get a shot as an undrafted free agent.

I wonder what his angle is? Transfer for the 4th time to improve his NFL prospects or give up football?

His angle is to stop the hemmoraging of his draft stock (what little he has left).

His year has been terrible. Dude was one of the top backs in the SEC last year.

He had about 4 hood carries against Moo State then it was over. He got hurt. Looked like he was either scared of getting re-injured, not healthy, or just wasn't putting in the same effort.

He's probably gone from a 3-4th round pick to a 6th or 7th or UDFA.

Teams were already going to be skiddish on him anyway with his injury history. This just makes it even worse.

Honestly, though, if youre 22 and seeing your pro career go down the drain, then I'd probably be thinking about opting out as well. Can't blame him. He had to spend his Arkansas career under Chad fricking Morris and a dogshit O-line this year.

Then opting out at this point is the worst thing he could do. He’s the type of player that needs coaches singing his praises to NFL coaches and management. Doubt anyone is going to put themselves out there for an “opt out”.

He should have stayed and ended his career on a more positive ending.

This. RBs are a dime a dozen to NFL teams. Look at Alex Collins, he's 2-3 magnitudes more talented than Boyd and has proven himself in the NFL, but can't get a consistent roster spot after his incident a couple years ago

Aren’t team captains supposed to be leaders? Lol

Boyd was about the softest starting RB for the Hogs I can remember. Always hurt, hardly ever played a full game, and now quitting early. See ya

Man I completely forgot that he was a team captain. That is definitely not a good look at all.

Wasn’t Boyd a captain? If so a captain quit on the team?

Edit:
Didn’t read anything today, just popped in my head after my coworker told me he quit today.

Forget about Whaley? Haven’t really had an exceptional talent since RW3 broke his neck.

Per Pittman, this is our RB group available this week. Big yikes if Smith were to get hurt.

Smith, Johnson, Hammonds and Buckner all available

We'd probably put Burks back there before Buckner sees the field though lol

Excited to see Johnson. I've heard good things.
