D'Vonne McClure has moved from Nickel to OLB and Daulton Hyatt has moved from QB to WR.

I can’t imagine he ever sees a down at WR. This is one of those random position changes you see every year to give depth somewhere else in practice for the scout team.

Or he is the next Matt Jones, without the off the field issues.

My take: They want Hyatt to graduate and GTFO.

edit: He's was 5th or 6th string QB last year behind walk-ons like Lindsey.

And I'm guessing he knows he won't have any great opportunities else where or else he would transfer, unless he just really loves the school.

You never know.
A lot of QBs can transition to WR if they have the skill-set. They have a unique understanding of the positon. There are several NFL players who have made the transition.

He has good size at 6'4" and evidently has decent speed and hands. He might wind up being a good possession WR. Add another 10 pounds of muscle to him and at least he can make DBs miserable as a blocker out wide.

Hyatt should play on special teams this year and he might get a shot at rotating in at WR, particularly if we go 4 wide. He had zero chance of getting playing time as QB unless the other QBs are struck down by the plague.

That’s what I was thinking. 6’4 210 4.6 speed. Could be worse. Just think how everybody laughed about aj derby then he ended up being manageable

AJ was a pretty darn good TE for college. Granted he was playing next to great TEs but he was alright. Sometimes you need to find your niche.

EDIT: I should not type while trying to eat lunch.

Derby was good enough to make an NFL roster, too, by getting drafted by the Pats.

Derby's still in the NFL too! He played on the Dolphins last year. Currently he's a free agent but injuries happen and he is one of the more proven TEs still on the market. I'd expect him to be signed before mid season due to someone getting injured on some team.

He's got 50X more chance to see a down at WR than he does at QB. His odds are still probably long but....good move.

I don't think it's really a big deal. Some of y'all are dramatic.

QBs move to WR fairly often at a lot of programs.

Worked out okay for Braxton Miller.
