From his statements, it's obvious this team has been babied and full of weak minded bullshite and selfishness for years and it's very, very hard to overcome.
LINK
Too loose and nonchalant on offense.
Cliffs:
Pitt didn't look happy.
Defense domimated. Much better shape than last week.
Weren't the same offense as a week ago. Also wasn't the same D.
3 picks. QBs didn't look good. Protection and O play was not acceptable.
Proud of Team but need to play better.
Come a long way with toughness and execution. Complaining much less than it used to be
Shedding the self pity and losing mentality. Did not see "whoa is me, not getting enough reps" attitude. Team knows it's next man up now with Virus.
LBers played OK, played like shite last week. Draper made some plays.
Ran through plays today til the end.
Fumbles.
Went inside indoor after lightning.
TE battle still going. Position is thin. Toll getting better. Not physical enough.
Next week another "work week" Fumbles and picks will be emphasis.
Mental toughness and giving up better than last week but still needs lots of work.
Not talking about Georgia at all.
Special teams did very good. Punting better and two 52 yd FGs made in game.
LG and RT positions still not solid. Latham moved got reps in 1st team. Wagner played RT.
Now emphasising problems at practice. Ball security is big. Tackling getting better.
Davion Warren and Hammonds are WR 4 and 5.
120 play scrimmage. Not many offensive highlights.
Draper learning defense better but still too much processing.
Fountain is best Special Teams coach in country. Makes no sense not or have ST coordinator.
LB depth seems to be total shite.

Gonna be a long year but we knew that. Glad Pittman is holding their feet to the fire.

It’s a little concerning that Henry hasn’t dominated the TE battle. That was a position I felt good about.

Seems to be doing well receiving but needs a lot of work on his blocking.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we go with a 6th OL in a lot of goal line or short conversion situations. Toll seems like he’d be strong enough to block well at TE but from what I remember hearing his hands aren’t very good.

Hopefully toll isn't jerked back and forth between D-line and TE.

We are still very much a work in progress. This was not the season to lose the rent a win games.
Regardless, we are showing some signs of improvement. We just have to muddle through this season and hope for the best.
I strongly suspect that in the long term we are going to have to do some addition by subtraction and get rid of a few players who might have talent but don't have much gumption.

I think that's what Chad was actually trying to do but he obviously was not the guy that could do it and he went about it the entire wrong way.
In doing so, he just compounded the Bert problems even more. Now Pittman has to dig through even more bullshite, but I belive he can do it.

Addition by subtraction was probably a really good warning sign about how bad things were. Bert's teams weren't great but they weren't winless in sec play bad

Bert went winless in 2013 when he should not have but it showed how lazy and backward thinking he was.
I think Morris gutted somewhere between 33-37 players in two years. Instead of working with some of these players, he went nuclear and destroyed the foundation for no reason.

One thing I am liking so far is that we are not being spoon fed lies day after day about how "we looked good" and are "improving" in practice. Seems like Pittman will tell us more or less exactly what he is thinking and how we are doing.
This interview showed he is willing to criticize and call out the team when it is needed. Im just ready for a coach to come out and say "Well we suck pretty bad right now. We would get our asses handed to us if we played today." Id much rather hear that than crappy coach speak.
Maybe, just maybe, the players need to hear the coach say how bad they suck in the media, and maybe they would actually work to get better instead of getting their faux egos stroked for no reason like the past two coaches have done.

"You can't just get mad at everyone and bench everyone, you have to work with them so they improve" said in an exasperated way is a pretty telling quote

Translation: We got about 4 good players and everybody else either sucks or is an entitled weak-minded prick.
Unlike the other Post-Petrino coaches, Pittman knows what an SEC championship level squad looks like and how they go about practice and what kind of mindset they have. And he knows this team is probably way far from that.
They're going to need to do some hypnosis or Jedi mind tricks to get turn them into killers.

I hope our Strength and Conditioning Coach is earning his paycheck this year. I'm watching the Middle Tenn. State vs Army game and it is pretty obvious that MTSU was not in game day shape.
If you want a recipe for a long day at the office in college football be slower and weaker than a triple option team.
In previous years teams were able to play their way into shape with the first few rent a wins. That won't be an option this year. I hope we are up to speed or Georgia is going to walk the dog on us. On the other hand, if we are up to speed and they aren't...

quote:Yeah CSP didn't look too excited talking about linebackers. It doesn't sound like we're just going to ride it out with Henry, Morgan and Pool. Pittman didn't correct the reporter that asked who was AFTER them on the depth chart but I got the impression that he wanted to.
LB depth seems to be total shite.

Yeah I think Draper is gonna help some but clearly we are very thin at linebacker

Pool is a good player, he just doesn't get any breaks because he gets rotated out, the other two are a big drop off. Then depth continues to be a problem as Pool and Harris got tired quicker and no one was good enough to give them a breather last year.
We needed to redshirt players but the position is so thin that we just cant. But at some point in the future, players need to be redshirted so depth can be built.
Also Andrew Parker needs to step up ASAP. He is a redshirt sophomore and really needs to show what he can do or the staff will have the younger ones get more snaps. This is critical as the unit just needs more help.
