You realize that we would be hiring Norvell not his D.C., right?

Norvell would be able to budget a top D.C. For his staff. Possibly a career D.C. We wouldn't have to worry about landing a HC job like venebles.

I mean for fricks sake. He's only at his third stop as a coach. Norvell, by comparison, is in like his sixth stop.

You guys act like Venables is toxic or something, but all he does is win titles with his defense. And he stays at the same job a long time. Because he's loyal.

But yeah, we'd be idiots for hiring him. Lol

Coming in to this game, Memphis is 7th nationally in turnovers gained and 6th nationally in turnover margin. This isn’t some fluke quarter that they’re having.

shite defense

He stays at the same job because he can't land a better job. When you interview with ms state and they don't think you are good enough for them, the. It's clear you are not sec HC material.

What's their points allowed per game?
Getting a turnover here and there is nice, but the defense still sucks if the other team scores the other 9 times they have the ball.

Pure shite. Give me a defense that doesn't give up yards, not one that gives the ball back to the offense.

Well of course it is. Otherwise they'd be +11 turnover margin for every game they've played, and would be #1 by a wide margin in both categories.

Dale, I know you're not dumb. You shouldn't act like you are.

I missed where I said any of that. This is why I try not to even get involved anymore. You get these types of responses.

You were the one who brought Norvell up

Now you're getting to it. There are OC's in the mold of Norvell and Kiffin across the country, from California to North Carolina. Who are the DC's in the mold of Venables? Don't forget, he not only cooks the dinner, he is among the very best at shopping for the groceries too.

Still defense is suspect. Poor tackling for sure

Their fundamentals are definitely awful.

Here’s hoping we throw the bank at a top notch DC if/when we hire Norvell.

Kiffin's offense put up almost 400 yards of offense in the 1st half.

A little bit of a hint for those who would like to know.

I am really torn in the Memphis game...

There is a good chance that whoever loses this game in Memphis ... could be playing in the Liberty Bowl...

Remember, the Liberty Bowl is in the bowl of 6 picks in the SEC and takes the 4th after NY6 bowls in the big 12.

If the SEC gets 3 teams in the NY6 bowls... which is a possibility since they could all still be top 12 ranking, The Liberty could get the opportunity to pick the loser of this game.

Can you imaging playing the bowl game in your home stadium against Iowa State, WV, or K State... Sell out.

OK, back to our future coach!

This point is totally lost on this board.

There are far more offensive guru coaches out there than there are defensive guru coaches.

From a pure probabilities standpoint, you are foolish not to throw your big money at the best defensive guy you can.

But like I said, that is lost on this board because they're enamored by the local-boy-scores-points story.

We'll get who we get. I'm partial to Kiffin. He's gonna win a NC somewhere.

And Venables is the type that will win MULTIPLE titles somewhere.

You heard it here first. It'll be a frickin shame if it ends up being somewhere other than Arkansas.

As a point that you can attack anyone's resume. I used him as an example because it is someone that most like. I actually like Norvell as well and would be happy with him. You brought up something about Kiffin that I actually agreed with, his lack of maturity, then tried to use it as an argument against me. It was very odd.

I do like that Norvell is beating the great Scott Frost. And after getting his shite pushed in earlier in the season, he apparently can learn and adjust. That's a good sign.

The fact that so many people apparently dont give a single shite about head coaching experience is crazy. Randy Shannon was once a cant miss defensive mind. Bud Foster has never gotten a HC job. Bob Diaco was a Broyles Award DC and then a disaster as a HC.
