With social media, you now get to actually see what it looks like when 50 year old men try to convince high school kids to play for them. It's hokey, it's silly, and it's what has to be done. This same stuff was being said to kids in private, now it's just out there for everyone to see.

this

old men trying to seduce young boys to attend their school has never not felt hokey and silly to me.
one of the reasons I didn't pursue a career in coaching. I couldn't see myself being 40, 50, 60 plus trying to be hip with 18 year olds

So a "die hard" fan hardly noticed, but if we don't start winning it's really going to drive that point home further? Because we're oN everyone's minds? And people follow us so closely?

If it bothers you so much, why the frick are you following them?

Get off Twitter if you have a problem with it, you're a grown arse man.

Ever heard of out of sight, out of mind?

Right, I'm not sure why this is even a discussion. Do what works. Same thing applies for the jersey's colors. If you can prove that it helps recruit kids, I don't care what color we wear once a season.

I don't give a crap what they do on twitter, facebook, Instagram, or anywhere else.

We just recruited one of the best classes for Defense we have had in years and are starting over with a change in philosophy.

You do whatever it takes to get the attention of your target audience. I find it refreshing and a clever use of marketing actually. A nice change from the drab, dull, unintelligent stuff that bored recruits to death. But they were "Uncommon" lol.

and, I also find it odd that when it is Basket Ball season, and We have another mediocre season by what should be our standards, this is the message we are worried about. Perhaps other programs at the UofA can learn from a fresh, different approach.

I would argue that university does in fact exist to serve these kids and all the kids that would get an education there...

You would be arguing wrong.

The mission of the University of Arkansas is to provide an internationally competitive education for undergraduate and graduate students in a wide spectrum of disciplines; contribute new knowledge, economic development, basic and applied research and creative activity; and provide service to academic/professional disciplines and society, all aimed at fulfilling its public land-grant mission to serve Arkansas and beyond as a partner, resource, and catalyst.

UA serves Arkansas. It doesn't serve students. UA has no imperative to do what students demand. It admits applicants in pursuit of its mission

That's nice and all, but that's not how major college football recruiting works. Kids aren't coming to "pursue the mission" of the University. They're coming to get a degree and hopefully make millions in the NFL. That's it. That mentality furthers the mission of the University by bringing in a shite ton of money to both the University and the local economy.

If you want to drop down and compete with Harding, we could probably bring in in-state kids that are committed to pursuing the mission of the UofA and want to be Razorbacks without having to be recruited.

You guys seem to be confusing academics and football. The two aren’t intertwined.

If you think the athletic department should be run that way then you should be all for games in Little Rock. After all, that serves all of Arkansas by making the games easier to attend for the majority of the state

Athletics is a department of the university. Athletic employees (including coaches) are public employees, who work for the University

Also I just checked out Nick Saban and company's Twitter. Didn't see any dumb shite about ballers on there

Well obviously if Morris doesn't emulate everything Saban does he isn't a good coach

Saban can also say that he's had as many players selected in the first round since 2009 as Arkansas has in its entire program history.

Maybe read this article: 11 Absurd Recruiting Tactics.

Your boy Saban is in there.

No shite. I can still call out Mickey Mouse clown shoes bullshite when I see it. Hard to respect a guy who acts like a jackass on twitter all day, and we have an entire staff doing it.

Maybe our coaches could take some classes there because they just signed our worst class in history...

Yet we had our best overall defensive recruiting class in a decade with a guy who, according to group-think upon hiring, doesn't care about defense.

What was the root cause of the low recruiting ranking, and who was responsible?
