Welp. We are who we've been told we are. Bottom of the barrel. No one will convince me Sam was a top 3 choice. As a consolation prize? We could have done worse. I'm hoping for the best. Will definitely support him. Just wish we could have gotten someone that's proven they can be a HC.

Most LSU fans said the same thing regarding LSU hiring Ed Orgeron after missing out on Tom Herman and Jimbo Fisher. Sometimes the flashy hire isn't the right fit. Arkansas tried that with Bielema and Morris. I'd say going in a different direction may not be so bad.

Official announcement on twitter, surprised HY wasn't in full clown regalia at this point.

I’ll always remember where I was when Arkansas hired a career position coach to finish off the football program. Football at this school needs to drop to division 2 or something. We could be competitive in the GAC I think.

Eh, looking at all the coaching talent floating around this go round from Tech, not sure that dropping to that conference would be a good idea.

I'm actually surprised at how much love it and HY are getting. Fans, alums, former and current players, UGA fans and admin, everybody.

I'm not overwhelmed by the hire but I'll definitely get behind him and support him. I think he'll assemble a damn good staff and work his arse off to prove himself worthy.

I just keep reminding myself that the NFL makes hires for HCs like this all the time. They notice a guy who's a position coach that the players seem to rally around and knows how to coach and put them in HC spots all the time. They have to start somewhere I guess.

Who knows, this could be the perfect hire for what we need at the time. I assume he gave HY a pretty good idea of his plan and assistants he'd go after, and we'll probably spend a shite ton on assistants.

My grandma could tell you that winning in the SEC starts at the lines, and that's his specialty. Maybe it's a good thing we tried another direction from solely offensive or defensive guys.

Time will tell, but I'm gonna see what happens before shitting all over it.

I'm pretty sure he met with Sam back when he was here with the Hogs in Atlanta to play Georgia Tech.

I actually think this is a sneaky good hire. Arkansas will have an identity. Will recruit well. And I’d guess pittman could hire a good staff.

I know Sam Pittman has a lot to prove to many at Arkansas with not having a HC background. But the reaction of his former players and the devastation of UGA with him leaving fans says a lot to start.
