you realize Pittman left because of Bert, right?
Its just a coincidence that after Chaney is shown the door, Pittman soon follows and Pittman came with Chaney from Tennessee to Arkansas.
Its just a coincidence that Pittman left at the exact same time all the talent on Oline disappeared from Arkansas's roster, he had nothing to do with that.
Someone will have to make a Wiki page for Pittman now.

Also what we had last time was Chaney’s offense mixed with Bielema’s preferences from Wisconsin. It’s not 100% that he’s run an identical system here. I’d still kick some tires elsewhere first but it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Yep. The lack of an O-Line has now caused 2 HC's to get canned in a 3 year period. Plain and simple. Had Bert or Morris been able to address they'd both still be here (not saying that'd be a good thing). If nothing else I have confidence Pittman can fix that issue.

Sam Pittman absolutely loves Athens and there are very few jobs that would take him away.
Head coach at Arkansas is one of them.

Please tell me there is a bonus in his contract for getting any of these guys to flip.

yea it seems it's not as black and white as bert ran him off
there were other factors in play, but berts boozing are rumored to have played a role in him leaving

Linder berg is out of Texas and was considering Arkansas at one time.

Currently working for LSUs old Dline coach.
Let’s see how this plays out.
Pittman will have $8-10 mil to work with. I bet he only takes $2-2.5 of that and starts slinging money at a great staff.
My thoughts

Berts boozing played a large role. Pittman and his wife were pretty active in....wait for it....Crosschurch

Jim Chaney 1.5 mil per.
Who's next?

gonna enjoy a good chuckle when he doesn't actually hire Chaney

I am not a rah, rah, rah Sam Pittman guy.
That having been said... we stink on ice. We really stink. We are the worst SEC program right now and I think Vandy would motorboat us if we played today.
We need someone who can stockpile some talent. I'd prefer to hire someone like Willie Fritz who has proven he can bring a dead program back to life, but I'll happily take Pittman even if it means we get Chaney back.
He might not be the guy, hell, he probably isn't the guy. But there is a decent chance he's the guy that sets the table for the next guy to have a decent run.

Kirby Smart was asked earlier this year about Pittman and the possibility of him being a head coach. “Sam’s got an incredible personality and kids gravitate to Sam’s personality,” Smart said. “He’s a tremendous asset for our program. He’d make an incredible head coach given the opportunity.”

I can get behind it.
On the condition he doesn't bring Chaney.
His hirings will make the difference in how excited I get. He's gonna want a pro-style OC. Maybe he could bring Petrino back as his OC.

Chaney did alright at Georgia.
Did pretty good at Tennessee.
I’m gonna guess that Bielema was a preponderance of the problem here and there was a WR coach that was really bad at coaching WRs.

If he brings Chaney, Chaney better hire a damn QB coach.

I'll take anyone other than the offensive brain trust we have had the last two years.
We aren't going to get the next Bear Bryant this go around. Not unless we get incredibly lucky.
Fine. Lets shot for someone that can actually "rebuild" the program and put us in a spot where we can actually compete in the West. Maybe Pittman is the magic bullet. Maybe he isn't.
But I feel fairly confident he can at least drag us out of the hole we are currently in.

Agreed.
But we’ll see. Hasn’t even been announced yet.
