But I spoke to a Memphis Booster this week and evidently they know his issues and don't care.

Most do....

I would take the gamble.. pun intended and give him the chance.

See. People will over look character flaws for wins. Yet I am over here pumping the best coach available, and he would win. Yet I still get massive resistance.

In the end I know it will never happen, but if it did I would jump for joy. My main goal is to shift the Overton window enough for someone like norvell to seem like a sane hire compared to what I am pushing.

as with my other post. I believe in 2nd chances. I wouldn't have a problem with hiring either one with the right standards/practices in place.

But I do see a difference, a massive difference in gambling problems/supporting a known culture of sexual abuse.

FWIW!

You only have like a 6 game lead in the series and that’s after we’ve been the worst program in the conference the last 8 years

As I said. I have 0 faith in it happening, but I figure if I can convert enough people. It will place the mindset of the fanbase further towards picking winners, and not choir boys who happen to coach.

This will in turn set the expectations for the type of hire the fans want, and will bleed up to the decision makers. I am trying out some political social engineering propaganda techniques on our fanbase in hopes it ends up forcing our UofA leaders to make a good hire for once.

Our leaders wouldn't touch norvell last time. If everyone was clamoring for Briles 1 of 2 things would happen. The admin would actually hire him in some crazy alternate timeline, or they would actually give someone like norvell a serious shot at the job.

Norvell or Freeze problems essentially come down to "sorry for partying" briles if that is who you are pushing is purposely neglecting crimes that harmed people.

I personally am down with one and not the other

My candidate of choice is Clark down at UAB. We know he knows how to build a program literally from the ground up. He's also smart enough that if he does have skeletons in his closet that he keeps them in there and doesn't trot them out for everyone to see.

I'd make him say no to a big contract and then look for other coaches if he doesn't bite.

You Could get Freeze on the cheap with lots of contract language for an easy out, but do you really want a snake oil salesman/televangelist as the new face of your program? Also don't knew how he'd recruit now.

Bill Clark is going to be in high demand but that guy is probably the best couch out there that the team could realistically get.

Although, Tennessee may not be able to fire Pruitt because his buyout is too big and Tennessee is poor. That takes one key player off the market.

If USC opens thats no challenge to us, theyre looking to hook a huge fish (Meyer).

Matt Rhule is probably going to get an NFL job from the latest rumblings. I could also see him going to Fla. State if they can actually afford to fire Taggert.

That leaves Arkansas actually in a pretty decent spot to hire a coach this year.

Les Miles may honestly jump to Michigan if Harbaugh leaves for the NFL, but if he doesn't, I think he's one of the few that could actually lay a foundation here again.

I also think Butch Davis could too, but he may too old and his Fla Int. Teams haven't been great. Schiano would probably do it, too, but I don't see him fitting well at Arkansas.

Norvell is honestly the wild card. No idea if they'd approve him. I also don't knew how he'd do in a total rebuild. Dude wins though.

Honestly, 5 years of Butch might be what the program needs to get back on solid footing. Really, he should have been hired many openings ago.

With his extensive contacts, I'm sure he could put together a solid, respectable staff. Would Schiano as DC be a possibility?

Only problem is a hire like that has a built in shelf life.

If you want youth and a coach you could get 10+ years out of (assuming he wins), go with Norvell.

Should we start adding offensive and defensive coaches to this thread instead of HCs?
Chad is getting another year but will be replacing 1 if not both coordinators.

No coordinator worth a shite is going to move for one guaranteed year. Biggest reason I think Morris is gone. Who is going to work for a lame duck? Certainly nobody established in the profession, with a family, etc.

Les Miles is probably a legit answer at this point.
I just don't see him leaving his good buddy Long. We had a shot with Long here, but I think this is those two setting up to ride off into the sunset together.

I suggested it the last hire and again now. Hire Skip Holtz at least to stabilize the program and get us to 7-9 wins.

We'll not attract a home run hire after JCP fricked us with Chaggy. He has a 65% winning record as a HC and is making 3.5 mil at La. Tech.

We need a proven coach that can win SEC games and clean up the shite that Bert and Chaggy has left behind.

Give him a 3 year 12 mil contract and let him do work.
