But hearing that we still yet are planning on trying our best to keep Morris another season.
Nothing has changed, the PTB want to see what he can continue to do in recruiting and perhaps replace some assistants.
I just don't get it at all....
Just further proof that our PTB big money cadre doesn't know jack shite about football and cannot help but continuously make the wrong fricking decision at every turn.
Just unbelievable. But yet the most Arkansas thing ever.

the reason for the email earlier in the week from the foundation to Club Members was to gauge the temp... so to speak.
Attempting damage control and looking at the financials. For those complaining about the amount of fans in the seats, most of those tix are already paid for this season and the new contract for the concessions pays well regardless of fan numbers/purchases.
The key words here "This Season"...
They would like to see this turn around and keep Morris of course.
I don't see how if the rest of the season plays out like we all see it happening.

I'm not deep into the financials, but it may end up being cheaper to fire him than keep him another year and see further diminishment of support, attendance and performance-related revenue.
The Foundation already reported a more than $8 million year/year drop in donations, and it was the second consecutive year they'd reported a decrease in contributions. Keeping Morris only exacerbates that trend, along with rock bottom ticket sales to come in a lame duck year.
I feel like I know roughly 20 people alone who were (keyword) longtime season ticket holders who either outright gave up their tickets this year or reduced the number of seats they bought. I know it's anecdotal, but it's also a microcosm of what's going on and a foreshadowing of what's still to come if Morris is retained.
I just don't get it.

Two folks I’m connected who give quite a bit to the football program both said after the game today that they’re not renewing their tickets or donations going forward if he stays. I was surprised as they’re both heavily invested in Razorback football and have been for decades. The math isn’t going to be there to keep him if guys like this are dropping off now and we keep losing.

I don't give bunches, but I do have 4 club seats and 6 elsewhere in the stadium along with donations, club activities, etc.
I have already decided to be done unless something constructive happens following this season. Defining that hasn't come to fruition for me as of yet.
And I know of others who are doing the same. Some are big time givers as in BM, etc...
sucks. I looked at twitter and saw the photos of the stands, Unbelievable....

The only guy I'm connected with claims today sealed Chad's fate because it was a perfect storm of a lopsided loss, horrendous coaching, Morris seeming apathetic and in over his head, players giving up late, and most importantly, an unprecedentedly empty Razorback Stadium.
His words to that effect were along the lines of "if the crowd was that bad for Auburn and we're only 2-4 right now, imagine what it'll be like for Western Kentucky when we're 2-7 and staring at 2-10 again."

Knowing our luck, Boise State loses tonight, Memphis wins out and goes to a BCS game and Norvell scores a job above us. That would be such an Arkansas thing to happen as we continually miss out on top flight coaches by over thinking it and hiring the other guy.

The most Arkansas thing would be for him to get the Ole Miss job this offseason and proceed to kick our asses with fiery hatred for the next decade for passing him over in 2017.

But I spoke to a Memphis Booster this week and evidently they know his issues and don't care.
Most do....
I would take the gamble.. pun intended and give him the chance.

The only thing that concerns me with Norvell is his ability to build a program from the ashes. When he took over at Memphis, he stepped right into a 10-ish win team. He's maintained it and actually done better than his predecessor, but still, this job and this league he's eaten the last 2 coaches alive. And now there is such a losing cancer in the program, you almost have to have a super motivator and hard nosed guy to reignite the players.
Short of raping and pillaging, I don't give a shite what he had in his past, but Admins, especially at Arkansas where it has destroyed a program for nearly a decade.

You're not alone.
Maybe they realize that they can't pick a good coach and may as well get used to it.

Norvell and any coach who hasn’t had to build up a program before scare the crap out of me. I do not want this to linger any longer.
I honestly want a Les Miles, Gene Chizik, type to build the program back up the proper way. You know what you’re getting with those types. You know they’re going to get you up to 6-7 wins in a couple seasons.

What do you guys think of Shawn Elliot?
He's already beat Tennessee this year with a Sunbelt team.

I don't think a young guy is the answer at all at this point.
You've got to have a hard-nosed old school type of guy....too much bullshite and babying for the last decade. Amazingly, and I never thought I'd say this, but Les Miles is probably a legit answer at this point.
Question is, would he leave his buddy Jeff Long at Kansas for a chance to jump back into the West and play against his former team every year?
I say frick yes he would. Loyalty is one thing, but getting back into the SEC is another.
