Yeah I don't think you'd classify that as a podcast. It's more of a structured and edited video format rather than free flowing conversation, but they did name the show the 4th and 5 podcast so I can see why it'd be referred to as such.

Just always think of a podcast like a radio show or conversation you are just sitting eavesdropping into.

His takes a little more by watching the clips.

But I did like it when it pops up.

So what *actually* happened with Gumms and Washington?

A coach doesn't just dismiss two players mid-season because "he dint do right by him and nos it" or whatever bullshite Wu Pig posted

Washington had quite a bit of production and I remember hearing Gumms name multiple times this season, so I know the narrative that "they were leaving anyway" doesn't make sense.

Washington had a season ending injury.. but I haven’t seen anything leak about why he is cut loose.

They say that shite every time a player gets in trouble.

Washington and Gumms were second and third on the depth chart going into the MSU game.

I don’t have access to snap count numbers but we know the guy who was 4th on the depth chart scored two TDs while the other two didn’t catch a pass.

I’ve heard that Gumms actually quit and Washington was booted, potentially for refusing to enter the game.

Let’s leave it at that instead of hearsay and speculation because folks want Sam gone.

I’m not talking about you RazorBroncs, but things happen and if we don’t know what they are it’s best to find the facts before making a decision on the facts.

I’m tired of this drama.

May not be true now. They are paid professionals. Probably got cut to free up cap space for next year. Bobby P playing moneyball.

If you don't produce, you get cut loose.

Haven’t been to a game in a while. Want to walk through campus, what are my best options for parking in town near Dickson during the game?

After rewatching that play, I just realized how awesome Lassiter (I think) did. He held off two defenders, on his own, long enough for Taylen to get that pass off. Without him, that play is a bust even though most of the defense was fooled.

Washington went on DJ Williams 4th and 5 show on Youtube and said he let his anger and grief get to him.

Yeah I'm not buying it was this one situation that got him kicked off. DJ didn't either but he couldn't get him to say it was more

Yeah, he even said Pittman said something in their final meeting when kicking him off the team that he’d been a problem for 3 years, to which he didn’t really have an answer.

He outright admitted to refusing to go in the Mississippi State game after complaining about not playing for several weeks.

I do feel bad for him given what he said about his grandmother going into hospice and how it messed him up. We tend to forget that these are 20ish year olds who don’t have life figured out yet.

I hope what he’s saying about Pittman refusing to listen to him isn’t true. The optics aren’t great there. As with everything, the truth is likely somewhere in the middle. But it does feel similar to the issue Kiffin had last year when he kicked a guy off the team for mental health problems who’d gone AWOL.

So he wants to meet with the coaches and talk about his mental health the same day he is let go? Something isn't adding up. Sounds like he did something and is covering his bases.

Man, the money at this level is really good but coaching in 2024 has to be a headache.

What he did is refuse to go in the game, and complain about playing time for at least some amount of time, prior to that incident. That much is clear from the interview, even though he tries to gloss over some of it.

I understand Pittman not being willing to listen to him. Once you make the decision that he's off the team, it can't turn into a negotiation.

I'm saying this as someone who isn't a big Pittman fan.

I got downvoted for saying this before but the good ole boy Sam image is, at least in large part, something he has played up

I wonder if Petrino has any say in this matter, he seems like he would be less tolerant than Sam. If a kid is causing problems in his offense Petrino might not be willing to put up with it.

I’m not saying that is happening because I have no clue but just wondering out loud.

Wonder how much of this is talking to other people and teams and they say well ole miss tight end gets X… why you being short changed.

That’s what led to Judkins coming in right before the bowl game saying I need more money. Lane paid. Then he did the same after the game, and lane said you should explore your options.

Same here.

As someone who wants Pittman to go, I think he handled this how it should have been handled. Otherwise you risk losing the locker room or discipline going to shite.

Refusing to go into a game is a cardinal sin in sports. Not to mention a player who’d openly been complaining about not getting PT.

Also, Washington completely glossed over it, but it also sounds like he skipped practice on Monday (and maybe Tuesday). By his own admission he got a call from them saying to meet Pittman at 2pm, and he said as he was coming in to meet with Pittman the players and coaches were coming off the practice field.
