I say we go 8-4.

We have a really good QB and possibly the best stable of RBs in the SEC. OL should be pretty stout, too.

Not sold on our passing game yet.

I hope what I've been reading about our DL is true. It sounds like we could be nasty and deep there. A little concerned about LB depth. I'm always concerned about our secondary.

Our Oline looked a little weak in the run game

Really good start to the season, plenty to work on and plenty to be excited about.

They sold out to stop the run. But regardless, we should do better than 2.9 YPC on 36 attempts.

Definitely the area that needs the most attention after week 1.

Nice things I saw:

KJ has improved as a passer
Recent transfers are looking good. Top the tacklers are transfers (Jaheim Thomas and Jaheim Singletary), TeSlaa and Armstrong combined for 8 receptions and 2 TDs, and TeSlaa got a tackle on a kickoff.
Criswell looks like a huge upgrade over Hornsby but we only saw one drive and two passes.
Fletcher is actually a good punter this year! 52 yards avg on 5 punts.
Our guys didn’t cramp up all game. Maybe their conditioning is good this year

I know it’s very early. I am Florida looked awful, State has 10 points in the 2nd Q against SE Louisiana and Auburn isn’t impressive so far.

Hornsby seemed to always be looking to run, this is a massive upgrade.

The TD pass rolling to his left made it move a little.

Future looks good.

Called this out on another board, but oddly enough one of the things I was most impressed with was Fletcher's punting.

I was extremely critical of him last year so it's good to see him booming punts in week 1 this year. The punting game was a huge liability last year in that we were giving free yards to the opposing teams and incapable of flipping the field.

We will know more against Kent State who should provide better competition.

Debatable. Kent State is terrible. We're not going to know much until after week 3.

Which I'm fine with. It's nice to have a little runway to start a season for once.

This.

I like the idea of stepping our way up in terms of level of competition. FCS (WCU), G5 (KSU), then P5 (BYU) before we hit conference play.

We sure as hell didn't get it last year with Cincy and USCe in weeks 1 and 2, and Texas in week 2 in 2021.

UCF is much better than Western Carolina.

That team is bad by FCS standards.

Of course, but Kent State is already bad normally and that's compounded by the fact that they're overhauling everything this year. It will probably end up being roughly the same type of game.

quote:

With 22 wins over the last four seasons, two bowl appearances, a 3-1 2020 with no bowl, and lots and lots of big stats, this became a must-watch team on the MAC circuit - and then Coach Prime called. Deion Sanders hired Lewis to come run the Colorado offense, and out went just about everyone through the transfer portal. No program in college football - including Colorado, because that happened in a slightly different way - got gutted worse than Kent State with almost none of the 2022 starters returning. So let’s just say new head coach Kenni Burns will need a little time.
Just a little tidbit from a write up on them this offseason.

They aren't very good in the FBS but they are a step up from trashy Western Carolina.

Arkansas should win but they will struggle a little more then BYU will be a notch above them.

It's true that Kent State is bad but Western Carolina is worse and I would put them slightly above UAPB.

This game felt more like a scrimmage than a real game.

Missouri State would beat this team like a red headed stepchild.

I'll defer to you on that one. I'm no expert on Western Carolina football.

I'd be shocked (and very worried) if we get pushed by Kent State, though. They're a hollow corpse of a program right now.
