KJ can’t hit passes over the middle :/
Him hitting passes in week 8 doesn't change the fact he absolutely could not do it the first 7 weeks. It's objectively true and extremely easy to prove with video evidence.

I love having this fight with you every week Drewbie
It must suck watching us have success.

He very well may turn the corner and start throwing dots for the rest of the season

He hasn’t been great all season but he’s been pretty good the last 2 games in a row and I think that says something. I also believe Pittman hand cuffed briles for the first half of the season. Yo I notice how much more we’ve thrown it the last 2 games compared to before?

Acting like the criticism of his passing wasn't warranted at all after a good game now that we're 9 weeks and 3 losses into the season or framing anyone having reservations about the subpar performances up to this point as hoping for failure is just ridiculous and petty, though. The one week hot takes around here get annoying.

It seemed liked some games we flat out refused to throw the football unless it was 3rd and long and we were determined to try and run the ball down everyone’s throat

A&M taking it to Ole Miss through 1.

Welp... that didn't quite work out
I love watching A&M crash and burn, I hope we can take advantage of all those freshmen 5 stars in the portal.
That will forever be the single game we regret losing the most this year though. It was winnable and we could be sitting at 6-2 right now with our only losses being to Bama and an asterisk game against MSU since KJ was out.
We have a legitimate chance to win out, and 10-2 would've felt SO MUCH better than 9-3 with that shitty loss hanging over us. I think we struggle a little vs Liberty and come away with a close win, but then handle OM handily in a revenge game. LSU will give us their best shot and that's an unknown for now, but I like that we have the hardest games left at home.
Mizzou is improving week to week and we have to play them at home for the last game of the season, and their defense is pretty damn good. I think we eek out a win there too, but this game just reeks of a trap and we could easily stumble if we play sloppy or undisciplined

quote:There was criticism for both he and Briles. Kendall wasn't the one missing the throws and/or constantly putting his receivers in terrible positions. This has to be some kind of selective memory to have just completely forgotten the ineptitude of our intermediate passing game. The plays were called plenty. He just didn't hit them or would lower his eyes and run after one read. I'm not even sure how this is a point of contention. All you have to do is go rewatch the games.
being critical of the pass game was warranted but I don’t think we should’ve been criticizing kj.
Regardless, I think we can all agree things are looking better in that regard.
quote:We didn't run any more pass plays than normal this week. His 24 attempts is about right at average for the season. The only outlier is his 40 attempts against BYU. Almost every other game falls within 22-26 attempts.
The problem wasn’t kj as much as it was Kendall and Sam not calling pass plays

Well one thing that definitely hurt early in the season is our receivers seemed to have a case of the drops. Idk it just seems like we’ve been calling more pass plays in early downs instead of always running it on 1st

Was just looking at Liberty’s game results thus far. Beyond Freeze being the HC what exactly are we supposed to be concerned about here? Blew out BYU but other than that a bunch relatively close wins against terrible competition

Missouri state game 2.0. A great passing game coach with the ability to pick us apart

Points against:
UAB 21
Garner Webb 21
Akron 21
So Miss 29 (in 4 OTs!)
What am I missing?

Arkansas broke BYU and just quit during the Liberty game.

Yep.
The Arkansas-BYU game was the proverbial fork in the road game for both teams.
We were 3-3 and reeling from losing 3 straight, and BYU was 4-2 and had just tumbled out of the rankings after losing to a bad Notre Dame team.
The winner was going to (ideally) ride the momentum of a win for the stretch run, while the loser was staring down the barrel of possibly missing a bowl game after being ranked high early in the season.
We both pushed our chips to the middle of the table in that game, and the two have gone in different directions since.

Wow that’s a big spread. Thought it would be closer to 7.

Both KJ and the WRs seemed to be off and let each other down for two weeks in a row with A&M and Bama. KJ would tuck and run to quick or the ball would sail on him, but when he got it right the WRs dropped the passes.
They have been better the past two weeks.

Vegas knows. I’m certainly not objective but I just don’t see how this isn’t a comfortable win. Freeze factor skewing things
