Memphis alums take on norvell

I graduated from Memphis in 2013 with a degree in journalism. Actually wrote for the Tigers’ site on Rivals for around a year. These days I’m a Paramedic/Firefighter for the Memphis Fire Department. (The adrenaline junky within me never went away) I still have a lot of connections to current and former players there and to media figures.
What I can tell you is that Norvell is beloved by the players. I hear Trey mention often how players loved and fought for Nutt and Bielema. I think this is an important point because you play harder for coaches you have a relationship with on a more personal level. This is the type of guy Norvell is. He spends time with his guys outside of football quite often. He goes to bat for his guys and they do the same for him.
Norvell is obviously a great offensive mind, but what I think is one of his best qualities is his ability to get the most out of unheralded players. He has a very keen eye for diamonds in the rough. Gainwell is a great example of this. The guy is arguably the most exciting player to watch in college football and Ole Miss didn’t want him out of their own backyard. He’s turned numerous “nobodies” into great players. I’d also add that he is also a fantastic recruiter who connects very well to younger kids and really gives their parents a sense that he cares about them bettering their lives either by making it to the NFL or in other career fields.
For anyone on the fence about him, I wouldn’t be. He’d be a home run hire.
Clearly this guy pays far more attention than we do to memphis. He is a hog fan.
After hearing this I'm further sold that he is my #1.
I'm not sure how you can really have anyone else as your #1 really. He should have been hired last time, and we would be miles ahead of where we are now.

I thought Chad was coined a player's coach too?
At this point a rock out of the lake would have coached better than Chad so anyone is an upgrade IMO.

I'm not sure he was ever called a players coach. It's coming out now he was unapproachable outside of football

Of course they love him. He's winning.

Legit starting to believe the off the field concerns were disinformation by those that had an agenda for Morris.
Even if there is some truth, not hiring under the presumption BP may happen again would be stupid.
If we get the same 5 years we got out of BP and he does something stupid, who cares.
Anything but another run of what we just went through.
Norvell has to be the guy all things considered.

If you don't believe this isn't exactly why we didn't hire him then you would be wrong.
Mike Irwin literally said we wouldnt interview leach because our admin is full of liberal pussy snowflakes, and leach is the opposite of PC. We just couldn't possibly expect young men of color be told about how their little fat girlfriends need to stfu and stop telling them how great they are.
I can 100% believe they heard he fricked a coed at Arizona st (I heard this is what he did, and he is open and honest about it. That he made a mistake, and shouldnt have done it) and freaked out due to the patriarchy of a rich attractive man seducing a young hot chick.

Pretty sure that's the kool-aid they were serving not long after he was hired. Heard all about how professional they ran everything compared to CBB. Cookouts at this house with recruits and freshmen, etc. Now we are hearing the exact opposite.

We heard the truth from that anonymous player thing that we all took as a pissed off bert walk on. Turns out it was 100% true, and bert's players always hated him, but I'll just say this.
frick BERT'S PLAYERS THEY GAVE ME THE WORST frickING YEARS OF FOOTBALL I HAVE EVER SEEN! THEY HAVE NO frickING PRIDE! WHETHER THEY HATED MORRIS OR NOT, AND EVEN IF HE WAS A shite COACH, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BUNCH OF PUSSY arse fig-GOTS WITH NO frickING SENSE OF PRIDE OR SELF WORTH. SO frickING FULL OF QUIT THAT THEY ARE HAPPY GETTING THEIR shite PUSHED IN LIKE A TRANNY WHO HASN'T REACHED THE STAGE OF KILLING THEMSELF YET.

Norvell makes all the sense in the world and would be a home run....which is precisely why I believe we won’t hire him.
The most Arkansas thing ever would be for us to pass on him again and watch him take the Ole Miss job and proceed to kick our asses for a decade.

Yep. I 100% expect us to chase gussiah. AGAIN! He will cuck our boosters for the 1000th time. Once he finishes in their wives they will stand around clapping as he receives another raise at Auburn. Then he will tell them to hire fricking some retard like lashlee, and we will oblige. Then ask him if he is available for another session in 2 years. Just like this last time. THAT is the most arkansas thing ever.

That doesn't explain why all the other schools passed on him as well.
I say we hire him and make him agree to vagina rations. He gets up to but not to exceed 3 coeds a month and they have to sign an NDA and he agrees to supply them with gift cards to Ulta, Sephora or some shite

From what little I've gathered, it seems the board snd boosters are actually kind of chasing Norvell this time around.
Let's just hope those dummies didn't actually spread the rumors last time around.
But yes, he seems like the most logical, best candidate available, which scares the hell out of me.
I seem to have a sneaking suspicion that we end up with Kiffin, but that's just speculation.

IMO the "most Arkansas thing ever" was hiring Morris in the first place. I almost made a thread for my thoughts. And I hate to harp on the past, but there has never been anything more "poor little arkysaw" than hiring a Texan for the sake of him being a Texan with a fricking losing record at the time of his hiring. I was optimistic it may work, but looking back on it now it was pathetic.
I don't care who it is they hire really, but they have got to do a better job than the last few hires up there. I trust Yurachek will make a good decision. Very pleased with the Musselman hire.

I'm good with Norvell. I was last time too. I won't lie. The Chad Morris hire pissed me off. Full disclosure, the Bert hire pissed me off, too.
I agree with Dale that we don't have to hire a "Texas" guy so we can recruit Texas. We can pull guys from Arkansas, TX, OK, MO, LA, TN, MS, GA, and FL. Norvell seems like the right kind of coach to do it.
Just please....no Gus Malzahn.

This. You don't have to have a Texas guy to recruit Texas. Smart programs go for the best coach available. The really good coaches can recruit wherever the hell they want because players want their coaching.
These people live in a world where in order to get anything done you've gotta grease someone's palm. They're idiots.

Mike leach is a good coach who’s won everywhere he’s been he’s used to being outmanned in the talent department and he has Texas ties and he’s coached in the sec before... just saying

Like it or not, this name will heat up. Especially if they lose to UGA this weekend. He loses most of his team next year and Auburn faithful are always looking for the next coach.

Only among fans who don't know any better. 0% chance. I said 0% chance last time too when people were insisting it was a done deal. Malzahn has a lot of cronies that go to bat for him, but it ain't happening.
